Ich glaube auch, dass einige vor allem die Menschen, die mir nahestehen, gar nicht begriffen haben, was das für mich bedeutet hat.
Ich schaue den #Eurovision seit 2000. Jedes Jahr. Ich lasse dafür alles stehen und liegen. Ich habe in Kauf genommen eine Stelle nicht angeboten zu bekommen weil ich auf jeden Fall in Basel leben wollte wenn der ESC in meine Schweizer Wahlheimat kommt.
Dass ich den ESC dieses Jahr nicht schauen konnte, bricht mir weiterhin das Herz. Ich empfand und empfinde das als einen tiefgehenden Verrat an einer Idee, die für mich persönlich Teil einer fundamentalen Überzeugung ist. Die auch mich als Menschen ausmacht. Es ist die schockierende Erkenntnis, dass die Menschen, die den ESC produzieren, nicht wissen, was sie da produzieren.
Das muss man nicht teilen. Aber es schmerzt mich, wenn ich das Gefühl habe, dass Menschen, die wissen sollten, was mir das alles bedeutet, das als eine Art moralisierenden Kinder-Wutausbruch interpretieren.

Ich musste feststellen, dass es in Sachen #Eurovision auch sehr unterschiedliche Menschen gibt.
Manche scheinen das vor allem als Event zu betrachten.
Und ich habe teils glaube ich etwas Unglauben und vor allem Belustigung geerntet, als ich meinte, ich boykottiere den ESC 2026.
Aber für mich ist der ESC mehr als das.
Für mich ist der ESC ein Austausch musikalischer Kultur. Für mich ist der ESC ein Fanal für den friedlichen, künstlerischen, gemeinsamen Wettbewerb um eine gute Zeit, um Gemeinschaft, Frieden, Miteinander. Für mich ist der ESC die liedgewordene Idee eines geeinten Europas, so strahlend, so wirksam, dass wir Mitglieder weit über die Grenzen Europas hinaus haben.
Und ich muss zugeben, es gibt Menschen, bei denen mich schmerzt, wenn sie dieses mein Gefühl nicht verstehen können. Nicht alle. Aber manche Menschen sind einem ja doch näher. Dachte man.

Zum ersten Mal seit Monaten mach ich mal wieder ein bisschen Karaoke. Instagram ist schuld und hat mich daran erinnert, dass ich ja auch mal wieder was Kreatives tun könnte.
Mein liebster Song der letzten Jahre beim #ESC #Eurovision ist und bleibt "La Noia" von Angelina Mango. Und ich kann ihn immer noch nicht ganz fehlerfrei, es gibt immer ein paar Wörter, über die ich drüber stolpere. Aber ich liebe ihn.
2026 gab es leider keinen ESC. Schade. Aber ich freue mich auf das nächste Jahr.

I can be fairly accused of having made jokes and laughing at other's japes about the Eurovision Song Contest.
But today, as a USian, I must keep my lips sealed in response to anything people in Europe or the rest of the world might have to say about Sunday's abomination on the White House lawn.
USians can look forward now -- I fully expect -- to Trump monetizing his presidency with live broadcasts of him posting on social media while seated on a toilet.
His followers would lap it up.
And he'd laugh all the way to the bank.

Can the #EBU take punitive action against #Israel for such blatant vote-rigging in #Eurovision (see thread)? Probably not, because the ads aren't being served up by the Israeli EBU member broadcasting service #KAN directly, but by a government propaganda arm.
KAN is supposed to be a public service broadcaster of news and entertainment programming independent of the Israeli state, but I fear that line is blurring ever more year after year.

#BabyLasagna erwähnte in einem Podcast, dass er mit #BambyThug s also #ireland Auftritt jetzt nicht soviel anstellen kann. Er mochte es nicht. Auch konnte die Situation, als Bamby Thug lauthals schrie, das sei ein Festival des Friedens, sie nur ironisch wahrnehmen. Sie schrie halt sehr aggressiv von vermeintlichen Frieden. Das brachte BabyLasagna nun solch ein Shitstorm ein, dass er sich genötigt fand folgendes preiszugeben. Mensch Leude! -

¡Pues ya está! ¡Ya he roto la racha otra vez! Ahora me toca condensar TRES MESES de turra en un solo illusjournal que se va a hacer larguííííííísimo y que no os vais a leer (y con razón). Una lástima, porque desde la última entrada he hecho muuuchas cosas interesantísimas como confinarme por coronavirus (sí, lo pillé otra vez), montarme un servicio de streaming de vídeo en casa, irme de viaje a Bélgica, pulular por Mastodon, reparar cosas rotas, dibujar tres cartelacos y conseguir trabajo en un restaurante de ramen. ¿Qué? ¿Qué no os interesa nada de eso? Ah bueno, pues nada, me quedaré aquí yo solo contándoselo a esta piedra multidimensional con ojos saltones…
