So the Trump administration has moved from trying to screw us economically to sending one of their reality TV stars cum cabinet officials onto Fox News to point out that our military is smaller and much weaker than theirs.
In case anybody's not paying attention, this isn't actually about the relative trade balance between Canada and the US. It's much more sinister.
I don't take the threat entirely seriously, it seems difficult to imagine that military action against Canada would be tolerated by enough Americans for it to be a realistic option. But we've lived through so many events that seemed impossible, incl. Trump's threats to seize #Greenland that we must start to take this seriously.
This is unhinged. There is no casus belli just because you have a trade agreement. This is the sort of thing you expect from the moustache guy, not a notional treaty ally. Raw power threats by weak men.

Cet #iceberg était magnifique dans l'ambiance calme d'une fin de journée. Sous cet angle, il m'a fait penser au lion de Belfort.August 17, 2007: Leaving Qaanaaq, in northwestern #Greenland—a settlement established in the 1950s that became the new home for Greenlanders “displaced” during the construction of the U.S. Thule Pitufik Air Base.
