There is a really great conversation about Vision Zero in here:

Safety is very important to us, so there are a couple of things we want to highlight and discuss.

The #MooseIsLoose 21km trail run was held this morning in #yeg. More challenging than usual after the monster storm last night! The trails around Emily Murphy, Hawrelak, Laurier, and Whitemud Creek parks were better than I feared--but there was much mud and a few fallen trees, which made for some serious parkour moments!! Near 100% humidity made it feel like running in a jungle. Loved every step! (I might have a problem, ha ha!)

July 25th's storm pushed the July total up to 242.5mm, which is Blatchford's 3rd rainiest month on record.
#yegwx #yeg
The only months with more were 269.1mm last month, and 282.7mm in 1901.
(and one more big storm could catch either of those)

Last homestand of the year. Hoping the boys can pull through and shut out Kelowna to secure a third-place spot in the North Division!

29.9mm total for the storm will push 2026 up to 634.7mm.
That's still 5th overall.
But it's 7mm away from 4th place, & 15mm from 3rd. #yegwx #yeg -

Just thought to open the window in my home office and the cool breeze is nice... although there are also a lot of sirens.

Sitting up watching the UPS for our office servers while waiting to see if they get power up before I have to start powering things down.

the storm was a bit wilder than expected. 25mm of rain in about 15 mins at my house in the northeast, for a total of 27mm over a half hour. went from 28C to 13C, and i truly appreciate the cold, lakewater fresh air cooling off our house tonight.

It's still raining out there. #yegwx #yeg
But as of 10PM Blatchford got another 15mm.
That would push July close to 230mm.
And 2026 overall will be around 620mm, which takes over as Blatchford's 5th most on record.

I was looking up something about the #yeg Valley line extension on Wikipedia today and I was surprised. The new West and currrent Southeast use different rolling stock: Hyundai units on west and Bombardier on southeast.
How is that going to work? Are you going to have to change trains (surely not) or are both type of units going to go from Mill Woods uninterrupted to Lewis Farms?

Went to the liquor store. We don't drink much, and I don't go often. I was looking for a couple of very specific things. I'm guessing the staff were temp foreign workers - both Indian, and CLUELESS about liquor.
The TFW program is very problematic. Are these jobs really so awful that they can't find locals? Locals who actually know something about liquor? (I mean, college kids! C'mon!) #yeg #Alberta
(The grocery store next door is the same, BTW.) -

Here's a Canadian Weather Live radar watching stream - host says this is very likely to hit #yeg at this point. Intensity has weakened, but still has some hail in it.

@satchmo35 Yeah, it does seem to be moving ENE on the radar. Concerning though that the alert says it is tracking east, along the Yellowhead - I'm also seeing some new cells pop up along the southern boundary / gust front. Those might hit #yeg
The gazebo roof is definitely coming off in the next 20 mins 🙃

I really liked what Edmonton City Council and Mayor Andrew Knack did. #yegcc #UnitedForCanada
It shows a united front—for a united Canada—and clearly states Edmonton's importance, along with Alberta's, to Canada.

Severe thunderstorm alert for just West of #yeg. Red warning. 🔴 This one looks NASTY. Baseball sized or greater (!!) hail etc. Vaguely tracking towards #Edmonton.
"At 7:43 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an extremely dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, baseball size or greater hail and heavy rain.
This dangerous thunderstorm is just west of Entwistle and is moving to the east at 45 km/h."

Currently, there is quite a bit of construction in the area, because a #tram line is being built. Once finished, that will further improve the area.
