From ripping out the #ClimateChange work to ripping out housing to making public transit harder for those that depend on it, this is just a super regressive, reckless & future-blind city council. Thinking it might be Calgary's worst since I moved back here in the early 2Ks? #yyccc #yyc #Calgary

This afternoon I had the pleasure of presenting to city council on the subject of their review, and city administration's recommendation, to close down the Free Fare Zone.
The free fare zone is a program that has a set of stations that bisects the heart of my neighbourhood in downtown Calgary be usable at no cost, to the great benefit of local residents, community partners, businesses and tourists. #yyc #yyccc #Calgary

Update: Council will now only allow the building of single family homes, and only single family homes, in ~68% of the city.
It's a blanket ban on building housing.
Just another blanket. This time, snuffing out affordability.

Repeal of the 2024 changes to zoning — and returning to 60%+ of my city being single family homes and *only* single family homes is horrifying.

It's a bad idea.
I also flagged the dozens of unfilled Affordability Taskforce recommendations that this council is still sitting on their tufts on.
My frustration? My rent has gone up 33% and council is paralyzed.
