  1. #DavidBlain: “Why stay in Canada? ... the problem isn’t Confederation — it’s a 19th-century voting system straining to represent a 21st-century, regionally diverse country."

  2. CW: #ABpoli censorship 😡

"[An Alberta] Public Library board has estimated it will cost about $100,000 next year to comply with the United Conservative Party government’s unprecedented library censorship scheme, which is now the law of the land."

What a waste of valuable funds.

  4. In fact if you voted for #MarkCarney (as I did) & still consider yourself firmly in the #LiberalParty but are rightly disturbed by these policies you have an extraordinary chance to do something important for your country. 5. Alberta book ban to cost library board $100K. That’s money that could be spent on, you know, books – not to mention other library materials and activities says David Climenhaga. #abpoli

  6. What a sad day for the #BikeTO community with the Ford government winning the Bill 212 appeal! This also means bad news for #YYCbike & #YEGbike folks given the Alberta government under Smith has also been pursuing similar policies including a bike lane snitch line. #shame #TOpoli #ONpoli #ABpoli 🤬

  7. RE: mstdn.ca/@JEmphatically/117091

@JEmphatically Excellent that this judge gave consequences for the company's refusal to provide information:

the company redacted so much of the detail that it could not be determined when or how the water licence, which is attached to the land, will be transferred

and refusing to even give the project number is at hard odds with their claim to be

committed to meaningful consultation, responsible project development and regulatory oversight

The fact that the company declined to attend the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation's meeting Tuesday is pretty damn telling! Such a strong commitment to indigenous consultation! 🙄

    And this!

Palandjian said that the company opted not to attend due to “increasingly adversarial correspondence and conduct directed at our personnel during an organized site visit.”

What an extraordinary idea: there's no obligation to consult if another party's goals are, at that time, at odds with the company's?!

That's effectively saying "we'll consult, but only with people who support the project"!

Nice to see some good news; thanks for all your hard work.

  8. #ElectionsAlberta says it has received 25,000 applications for the 60,000 positions it will require to count up to 45 million complicated ballots, by hand, within 48 hours, as demanded by the #UCP. There's no hope of a fair count and both the referenda voting and count will be a gong show. Lineups will be long, and we need a strong showing of "yes to Canada, and #NoToTheNine." Request the mail in ballot (takes 30 seconds); make room for others; save your sanity.

  9. It just struck me that Carney’s rush to expand oil production could be just as much about staving off a US invasion/decapitation strike as it is about appeasing the Alberta separatists. 🤔
