Zoltán Kodály's Missa brevis features some very special moments throughout the mass... here is a remarkable passage from the Agnus Dei.Just when you think the sopranos can't go higher... they do!
Knowing that Kodály set these words "dona nobis pacem" - grant us peace - while in hiding in the basement of a convent in Nazi occupied Budapest, gives a deeper meaning to the music, the text, and is a testament to hope and the resilience of the human spirit.
