Agreed. Germany started two world wars and as a result, the Allies partitioned the country and required a new electoral system (a form of #proportionalrepresentation) so they would never choose another Hitler.
The US needs to basically do the same. We all know their current system elected Trump twice, and that 77 million Americans voted for him. They cannot be trusted again just because Democrats win...this time.

I am a sustaining member of Fair Vote Canada ($20/month), because I support proportional representation (hybrid versions of it, such as open list MMP or STV). But, their claim of "strong support" for PR is questionable. A recent poll they commissioned leaves out the term "proportional representation" from the main question, opting instead to phrase it as: if they get 40℅ of the vote, they should get approximately 40℅ of the seats, right?
If you can't even utter the phrase "proportional representation", then support isn't actually there.
That said, the subsequent questions of whether the opposition parties should come together on an agreement, before the next election, to implement a "more proportional electoral system", is promising.
I'll be shocked if the OLP goes for that though. After shafting Nate Erskine Smith, they seem determined to follow the path of the federal Liberals and become a clone of the conservative party.

Burnham's biggest contribution so far to discussion of #ProportionalRepresentation was to falsely assert during the Makerfield by-election that the best form of PR is the Supplementary Vote system (SV), another name for Alternative Vote (AV).
That is a whopping big lie. SV/AV is not a proportional system. No credible psephologist claims that it is proportional.
Will #Burnham drop that lie? Will he b honest about any of this?
