The majority of experts who testified at the ERRE committee gave evidence that proportional representation was the best option for meeting the committee's goals. No one disputed this. That was the consensus. Further, prior to the committee meetings, the members had meetings with Canadians across the country. Most Canadians that the committee members met with cited PR as their preference for electoral reform.
The Liberal members of the committee, however, ignored the evidence and, in the end, chose to inexplicably advocate for Alternative Vote (which, besides a different ballot, is basically the same as FPTP, in that it is a single member riding winner-take-all system --> winner take all is the problem). This led to Maryam Monsef's idiotic ridicule of the Gallagher Index. Ignoring evidence and ridiculing science is often seen with right wing parties. Under no circumstances should either the GPC or the NDP partake in such nonsense.

🚨Changing #Westminster’s voting system shouldn't be left to the politicians.😤 An independent commission could get the public & experts together in one room to examine the evidence & build consensus for reform. Unite Majority; Build a Better #Britain
Our outdated political system betrays us
The majority are encouraged to fight each other, splitting votes, clearing a path for #extremists to win with little public backing
Once they win, they have unchecked power to attack & dismantle democratic institutions & values we hold dear
It’s a better Britain. A country that stands for unity, against #hatred & #division

🚨The votes are still being counted, but one thing is clear: #FirstPastThePost is broken! 🗳️🤬
MPs elected while 2/3 of voters opposed them! 😤
Majority governments on a quarter of the vote! 😤 This isn't #democracy. Sign the letter calling for electoral reform 👇 #Politics #HumanRights #Justice #Oligarchs #MediaReform #Accountability #ProportionalRepresentation

In supporting #DanielleSmith’s demands to force yet another bitumen pipeline on British Columbia, oil drunk #Liberals are done in #BC.
Voting strategically for #MarkCarney despite my continued rage over the environmental destruction #TMX has wreaked on #Burnaby and #BC was the dumbest leap of faith I’ve ever taken at the polls. Conservative kiss-ass Carney can kiss his strategic voters in BC goodbye.
This is no “nation building” project, it is a capitulation to Big Oil pressure under the guise of nationalism, and the start of yet another federal war on British Columbia and all those protecting it.
This dirty, useless, expensive project won’t get done without shady #American or #Saudi investors, #Palantir drones patrolling the skies of Northern BC, and the inevitable sacrifice and destruction of our beautiful coastline for Alberta’s greedy, dirty oil economy.
This project will be Mark Carney’s albatross to bear, hope it was worth it for these pitiful Liberal Traitors.
