Sent a letter to the Editor at the Times Colonist. When the Leg resumes this fall, all members of all parties should do the right thing and make the first Bill be to change our system of voting to Proportional Representation.

The difference being that Canada and its provinces have unrepresentative false-majority govts

It’s time for fair votes in English local govt

In #English local #elections, #voting system means #councils don’t reflect how people actually #voted

A small vote shift can completely change who is in control

Right now, millions of local #votes don’t help shape the final result

This leaves voters feeling powerless, because even when lots of people vote for change, final result can look nothing like the community itself

Rather than elections, the members of a citizens’ assembly are typically assembled like a jury, where we all have an equal chance of joining

It is still up to elected politicians whether or not to follow the assembly’s recommendations.
