Finally started my homelab... on my MacBook!

It was definitely a new experience for me, and I'm glad I finally found something that can keep me interested in actually using a homelab: running a MediaWiki-based wiki.

I used to be a heavy contributor to a wiki called LibreWiki, so I decided to import some of its pages into my own environment and experiment with its structure, extensions, CSS, and other features.

And no, I'm not planning to open my homelab to the public anytime soon. 😅 This is going to stay a personal project for experimenting, breaking things, fixing them, and learning along the way.

The About page on the website reads "Minecraft Wiki is subject to Weird Gloop's Terms of Service" which is how I found the blog post that I shared in my initial toot.

Kdo píše Wikipedii, může ovlivňovat mnohem víc než Wikipedii.

Editor vystupující jako Iskandar323 strávil na anglické Wikipedii téměř 12 let a provedl desetitisíce editací. Opakovaně zasahoval do článků o Izraeli, Hamásu, sionismu i židovských dějinách.

Tři dny po 7. říjnu přesunul z hlavního hesla Hamás velkou část informací o jeho antisemitismu a násilné rétorice. Zasahoval také do informací o chartě Hamásu z roku 1988 a židovském genetickém původu.

A nešlo jen o jeden případ. ADL zdokumentovala nejméně 30 editorů, jejichž činnost podle ní vykazovala známky koordinované protiizraelské kampaně. Další investigace popsala zhruba 40 velmi aktivních editorů a samostatnou kampaň Tech for Palestine, která organizovala editování Wikipedie prostřednictvím svého Discordu.

Iskandar323 nakonec dostal zákaz editovat anglickou Wikipedii. Jeho úpravy ale většinově v článcích zůstaly.

A právě tady přestává jít jen o Wikipedii.

Její obsah využívají vyhledávače, technologické společnosti i systémy umělé inteligence.

Až si budete příště hledat informace o Izraeli, Hamásu nebo židovské historii, vzpomeňte si na jednu věc: Wikipedia není neutrální hlas z nebe.

It is a local only desktop wiki where each page also can be a simple data base object with relations between pages.

This, combined with means to show different page types with color and icon in the page list, as well as display pages in a tree based on relations makes it possible to use as a DevOps alternative local only.

Ein Ethik-Wiki für KI?

Die ethischen Leitplanken für Sprachmodelle schreiben gerade ein paar Teams in wenigen Firmen. Das muss nicht unbedingt schlecht sein, aber es gibt nichts daneben, worauf man sich öffentlich berufen kann.

Idee: ein öffentliches Ethik-Wiki. Folgende Arten von Einträgen schweben mir hierfür vor:

Prinzipien: Wenige und kurz.

Fälle: konkrete Situation, was da kollidiert, wie man abwägt und warum. Dazu ein Feld „Kipp-Punkt" als Pflichtfeld. Was müsste anders sein, damit das Urteil kippt? Und wenn möglich einen Verweis auf einen Fall, bei dem genau das vorliegt und deshalb anders entschieden wird. Dann hat man am Ende keine Sammlung, sondern ein Netz aus Fallpaaren, die sich in genau einem Punkt unterscheiden. Wenn so ein Kipp-Punkt genannt ist, der Gegenfall aber noch fehlt, sieht man sofort, was als Nächstes zu tun wäre.

Streitpunkte: für alles, was sich nicht auflösen lässt. Jede Position schreibt ihre eigene Fassung. Keiner darf die Fassung der anderen umschreiben oder löschen, nur eine eigene danebenstellen. Am Ende steht kein Urteil, sondern eine Auflistung möglicher Begründungen.

Daraus ergibt sich eine öffentliche Referenz, an der sich Modelle vergleichen lassen. Man legt einem Modell zwei Fälle vor, die sich nur in dem Punkt unterscheiden, der laut Wiki das Urteil dreht, und sieht nach, ob es mitkippt. Das Ergebnis ist keine Note, sondern eine Liste der Stellen, an denen ein Modell anders entschieden hat als das Wiki. Interessant ist nicht, wie viele das sind, sondern welche.

Die Abweichungen sind gleichzeitig Arbeitsmaterial fürs Wiki, denn es kann ja auch am Eintrag liegen.

Träger müsste irgendeine Rechtsform sein, die sich nicht mit Geld übernehmen lässt, wie immer schwierig, weil sie ja trotzdem eine Struktur braucht, für die man Geld benötigt.

Ich habe gerade ein wirklich seltsames Gefühl, auf eine irgendwie positive Art und Weise während ich zusehe und miterlebe wie Hermes als mit ChatGPT verbundenes „Harness“ sein Ding macht, um mein LLM-WIKI-Konzept auf der Grundlage einiger Regeln und Dateien live auf meinem lokalen PC zu erstellen. 🤯😅

The Principia Wiki contains hundreds of pages with information about the game, a large percentage of them being about objects and items of the game. However, with a game as complex as Principia there is undoubtedly a lot of things that remain undocumented.

Recently I have begun trying to flesh out the wiki further with new pages covering sandbox features and concepts that did not previously have a page for them, as well as linking them up to and extending existing pages.
