I have just eaten my first date of the season.
The tree below my office window has ripened very early this year so the locals arranged to harvest some and passed them around.
Yellow, brown on one end, very sweet and slightly crunchy. Absolutely heavenly.

We've had a decent day today even if it didn't go according to plan.
The sat nav (Waze) went haywire and sent us in completely the wrong direction for Borrowdale. So, we ended up in Ambleside instead, and had a good hour or two drinking coffee, watching the boats, drawing and taking photos.
Afterwards we went to a small car park on the other side of the lake and walked along a lakeside path for a while.
It began to rain as we headed back.The roads here are dreadful. Narrow with aggressive locals, poorly surfaced and difficult sightlines. I'm exhausted with driving - which I don't enjoy at the best of times!
When we got back I've fallen asleep and the other two have vanished. I suspect they're in our daughter's hot tub. I'm quite happy here listening to music.

At the time, I was so sick that I avoided hills and stairs.
Four years later, a doctor saved me, and now I take pictures of Missoula that look like this.
