Free, frugal, cold plunge footspa, with epsom salts, for my tired feet. You can see a surgical scar on top of my left foot. That's from when a team of surgeons did 3 surgeries, back to back, to correct my rollover polio foot & build a new metal footbridge inside that foot. I have 6 scars on the left foot but you can only see one of them in this photo. I had 30 different surgeries, all polio treatment related, by age 20. I flatlined during 3 of those childhood surgeries & had to be electrocuted back to life, all 3 times. I value life, a lot, because I have almost lost my life multiple times before becoming a full grown adult.

Three things that I am grateful for today:

😊 The sounds of a steady rain on the leaves of almost-autumn trees.

😊 Vegetable juice instead of plain tomato juice, the celery really brightens it up.

😊 I did not use my walking stick on our late morning or our late afternoon walks and I did just fine without it.

Today I am grateful to submit to speak at 3 different conferences yesterday.

We enjoyed a lovely wander around Morelia’s old town, taking in the sights and people watching from cute cafes.

I’m now in an excellent craft beer taproom sipping a delicious IPA. 🍺 Next, we’re going to watch some fireworks by the cathedral and then go to dinner. Life is good. 😊

This weekend I'm in a secluded forest, with no one around for miles. The mood here is drizzly, cool, contemplative. Minimal camp gear. A chair and a stove. And I'm kinda marveling at the fact that there are so many silent, beautiful places within my grasp.
