  2. Today I am grateful for a walk around Zakopane last night.

  3. Three things that I am grateful for today:

🌺 Enormous, heavy, dark clouds sailing ponderously into the east leaving behind fragments of blue sky in their wake.

🌺 #SunshineSadie's clear delight in running about sniffing every nook and cranny on our walk this morning - every day is filled with new scents.

🌺 I baked a cake! First time in years. (It was awful but that's okay - I think it's the antibiotics messing with my taste buds - even the local farm's lettuce tastes weird).

  8. A year ago today, September 5, began a long decline in my life. My brother was found after lying on his floor for three days following a suicide attempt. Weeks of hospitals and difficult decisions followed, then his death, and a few months later, my dad’s.

I’m not spending today reliving it, but I’m painfully aware of everything set in motion on this date and how much life changed in the year that followed.

I’m not “all better.” But this morning my Apple Watch told me my resting heart rate has been lower for 22 days — almost exactly how long I’ve been home after two months in Michigan.

Maybe my body knows something I’m only beginning to recognize. I’m still here, moving forward. September 5 marks where that year began. It doesn’t define the year ahead.

I took this along Virginia’s Blue Ridge Parkway a couple of years ago. Today, the light breaking through the clouds feels especially fitting — a reminder that even after the darkest stretches, light finds its way in.

  18. 🎉 Great News!

After serving brunch at NECHV this morning, I visited my mother, Millie—a 2x cancer survivor (breast & lung)—in Dorchester to celebrate her annual checkup being 100% ALL CLEAR! 🎀🤍

Of course, I couldn’t leave without a plate of my fav chuletas and tostones. She’s my hero! 🇩🇴❤️

  23. 📚❤️ Happy Teacher’s Day!

To the teachers who patiently answer questions, encourage curiosity, celebrate small victories, and help children believe in themselves—thank you.

Your lessons may begin in a classroom, but their impact can last a lifetime. 🌱

Here’s to every teacher making the world a little brighter, one student at a time. 💐

  26. Three things that I am grateful for today:

🌺 It was hot again today ☹️ but thankfully the humidity was much much lower 😃

🌺 Some days, like today, it's nice to sit outside in the shade in the courtyard and chat with neighbors.

🌺 My reaction to the pneumonia vaccine seems to be calming down.

  31. 3572 - I'm thankful for a lot of the stuff past-Adam wrote down in documents 10 and even 15 years ago (though I don't know how the heck that version of me could read 10-point font). #gratitude
