🏴🚉 #Railway stations across #Wales are set to receive 48 new Help Points as part of a £1 million #Transport for Wales (TfW) investment, giving passengers access to live #travel information and support.
The points will mainly be installed at unstaffed stations, locations with infrequent services and areas with limited mobile coverage. Passengers can press a button to speak to Customer Information Controllers for train information, assistance or to report issues. Most controllers speak Welsh.
TfW says the rollout will improve passenger confidence during disruption and provide a back-up when other information sources are unavailable. Five existing Help Points in north Wales will also be replaced to provide bilingual assistance.
The 2026/27 programme includes stations such as Ammanford, Tenby, Pembroke, Bangor, Porthmadog, Holyhead and Llandudno Junction. Work is expected to begin this financial year.

I must say I'm underwhelmed by the Canadian train announcement.
Basically, they are buying 313 railcars for ≈ 3B€, so roughly 9.36M€ for each railcar.
For comparison, Norway bought some 17 Stadler FLIRT (a mix of EMUs and BMUs) for 700 M€. This is basically 136 carriages at around 5 M€ the carriage. In other words, Norway paid half what Canada paid per carriages, with motors, batteries and some diesel generators thrown in for free.
