Respectfully, I disagree with the Mayor's approach.
Our top #transit priorities should be frequent, expanded, and safe public transit, not that it be free.
It is already very affordable with Metro's LIFE program.
We don’t need people camping out on public transit; we need mass mobility and a multi-modal region
The loudest voices for fare enforcement are often working-class, transit-dependent riders who want a safe system for them and their families.

Just watched an old SEPTA bus sign come down and new one go up. The new black one was hung a few feet lower and had way more info. Overall, as a designer I like the new updates. Check it out.

🇺🇸🗽 #NewYorkCity Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul and the MTA have announced a feasibility study for a thermal energy network (TEN) at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall 4/5/6 and Chambers Street J/Z station complex in Lower #Manhattan. The project aims to reduce extreme heat on #subway platforms while capturing excess heat for use in nearby municipal buildings during winter.
Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall recorded average summer platform temperatures of 96°F in 2025, making it one of the subway system’s hottest stations. The study will assess whether radiant cooling and geothermal infrastructure can transfer excess heat into boreholes beneath Chambers Street’s disused centre platform for seasonal storage.
If geothermal use proves feasible, design work could begin in early 2027. The proposed system would be the first thermal energy network in a US #transit system and could improve passenger comfort, cut energy costs and strengthen climate resilience.

Just had a lovely conversation with a total stranger about urbanism, bikes, cars, and public transit. He told me about how bike share and transit makes it easier for him to get around with his disability. Made me happy to hear and also wish we had a less car centric world.
