Reserving a space for my bike on InterCity #trains is hard. It's easy if I only want to book a ticket that's only for the InterCity portion (in this case, #Avanti). Adding on my source (#SWR) and destination (#NorthernRailway) stations, and it says I can't book a space on the outbound service (as far as I can tell, neither provider has reservations or restrictions on bikes).
I will go to my local station tomorrow to see if they can sort it all out.

🇫🇷 Parmi les quelques photos argentiques scannées aujourd'hui, deux vues de la gare de Liège-Guillemins à la fin des années 1990 (1997 ou 1998).
La première photo montre à quel point les automotrices doubles dites "classiques" de la SNCB/NMBS étaient encore omniprésentes avec les trains L (omnibus) vers Verviers-Central à la voie 7, celui pour Namur à la voie 8 et le train IR pour Antwerpen-Centraal via Hasselt et Aarschot. Toutes portent la livrée bordeaux. Et oui, vous ne rêvez pas, il y a bien une cabine téléphonique sur le quai!
La seconde photo, nous permet de voir l'ancienne passerelle piétonne qui permettait de rejoindre le quartier derrière la gare. Le site est totalement méconnaissable aujourd'hui. En outre, alors qu'une automotrice break quitte la gare en direction de Maastricht (NL), une machine série 15 vient de mettre en tête d'un EuroCity vers Paris-Nord via Namur et Charleroi. Il est composé de voitures Corail de la SNCF. Les voies 2 à 5, à l'avant-plan (la voie 2 n'est pas visible), servaient souvent de voie de garage pour des locomotives, la voie 5 servait de temps à autres pour la réception des trains venant de Jemelle.

We have here L trains (stopping services) to Verviers-Central on track 7, that one for Namur on track 8 and the IR train to Antwerpen-Centraal via Hasselt and Aarschot. All wear the burgundy livery. And yes, you are not dreaming, there is indeed a telephone booth on the platform!
The second photo allows us to see the old pedestrian bridge which allowed people to reach the area behind the station. The site is completely unrecognizable today. In addition, while a "Break" EMU leaves the station towards Maastricht (NL), a Class 15 locomotive has just been placed in front of an EuroCity service towards Paris-Nord via Namur and Charleroi. It is formed of SNCF Corail stock. Tracks 2 to 5, in the foreground (track 2 is not visible), often served as a siding for locomotives, track 5 was used from time to time to receive trains coming from Jemelle.

🇫🇷 Ce 2 mai 2005, je me trouvais sur les hauteurs de la Sarre près d'Ockfen et tout d'un coup, cette automotrice destinée à l'opérateur suisse Thurbo Bahn faisait un parcours d'essai. Et pour un peu, la photo n'aurait jamais pu être prise car j'avais oublié mon appareil photo dans le train! Heureusement, celui-ci revenait rapidement là où j'étais descendu et j'avais pu appeler un numéro de téléphone pour signaler la perte. Tout se termina donc bien et on peut vraiment parler de hasard et de chance!
Cette photo a été publiée l'époque dans la revue allemande Lok Report. 🙂
🇬🇧 On May 2, 2005, I was on the heights of the Saar near Ockfen and suddenly, that EMU built for the Swiss railway operator Thurbo Bahn appeared while on a test run. The photo could have been taken as I forget my camera on the train! Fortunately, it came back soon and I could contact by phone a service to report the loss. So everything ended well and we can really talk about chance and luck!
This photo was also published in the German periodic "Lok Report". 🙂

I’m vaguely looking at putting some #railway #timetables onto paper to have a backup during a trip I’m planning this summer, where I expect both power and coverage to be sparse.
I’m guessing that Fedi is the right place to ask this: Is there a guide to timetable layout best practices out there? Preferably in English? Or some sort of standard?
Most of my online searching seems to bring up information on how to schedule #trains, rather than how to present the schedule to users.
