It's Overland photoshoot day!
Found my spot just outside Ararat. On a slight curve, clear sightlines and with the sun behind me.
Now all I have to do is wait and hope the train isn't running too late. It only comes through in this direction twice a week so I can't afford to miss it!

That YouTube channel seems to post a lot of coupling content. Even this compilation of Shinkansen in the snow has 6 minutes of trains with their couplers out in the middle.

🇬🇧 Back in June 2005 for a few railway photos from Scotland during my trip to the Highlands in Kingussie.
Several railway operators are hiding behind the brand ScotRail. Until 1997, it was a sector of British Rail, the national company in the UK, from 1997 to 2004 National Express won the franchise for ScotRail, from 2005 to 2022, it was then First that was operating ScotRail services. Since 2022, ScotRail is in public hands again.
1. A DMU Class 170 Turbostar in National Express livery is arriving in Kingussie with a train to Inverness.
2. Two DMUs Class 158 are leaving Aviemore towards Inverness.
3. The station of Broomhill at the end of the preserved Strathspey Railway.
4. The steam locomotive is shunting to the other side of the train to go back to Aviemore.
Have a nice evening. 👋 🙂

@sinabhfuil Definitely, I think so - although a mere Jackeen, I think https://www.bikeshare.ie/ should be in each city in the country, as well as all major towns, and all rail line interchanges.
In this case yesterday, I was in Athlone, which is home to a TUS campus (fka Athlone IT).
There, I had to use a private bike share scheme, and a company I'm not fond of but which appears to have the monopoly on this location.

Well that got the adrenaline pumping. To start my day I had to give a short speech to my publisher's assembled sales team, promoting my upcoming book Train Europe so they would be more knowledgeable and enthused, and go out into the wide world determined to sell it to every possible outlet.
Went well I think. One of my main points was that we spend too much time banging on about the "golden age of rail travel", when in fact trains are very much part of Europe's present and future.

Several years of Deutsche Bahn business travel taught me something unexpected: eventually you stop fighting the system and start learning its moods, failure domains, and hidden virtues.
I wrote down the practical folklore that actually helps: apps, routing habits, delay survival, seat choices, fallback lines, and the strange civilisation of the Bordrestaurant at 250 km/h.

@hpod16 Hello, Hannah!! It's great you're asking that question, I think listening already is a key step! In my experience, most people don't have an idea the effect the EU has in their life, they just ignore that better #parks, schools and hospitals are EU funded. The same applies to #libraries, #bikelanes or #trains ! 😉 🚂 The #EU also funds innovative businesses and supports #entrepreneurs !☺️

One journey, one ticket: the EU plans to simplify cross-border rail travel.
Buying train tickets that cover journeys across borders in the EU is about to get easier thanks to a European Commission proposal.
The newly announced passenger package will see travellers able to make single-ticket bookings across multiple rail operators in one transaction.
