Pemex reduce producción de gasolina y diésel mientras aumentan las importaciones

Pemex registró en el segundo trimestre de 2026 una caída trimestral en la producción de gasolina y diésel, mientras aumentaron las importaciones, según una investigación de Reuters.

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) redujo durante el segundo trimestre de 2026 la producción de gasolina y diésel, al mismo tiempo que México incrementó sus importaciones de ambos combustibles, de acuerdo con una investigación de Reuters que documenta nuevas presiones operativas y financieras sobre la empresa estatal.

Entre abril y junio, la producción de gasolina de Pemex cayó 13 por ciento respecto al trimestre previo, mientras la de diésel disminuyó 11 por ciento. En contraste, las importaciones de gasolina aumentaron 45 por ciento y las de diésel 134 por ciento, según los datos revisados por Reuters.

El comportamiento incrementó la dependencia de suministros externos en un momento en que el gobierno federal mantiene como uno de sus objetivos la autosuficiencia energética y ha canalizado recursos financieros para fortalecer a Pemex y elevar su capacidad de producción y transformación.

Aumentan las importaciones de combustibles

Los registros de la propia empresa muestran que las importaciones de productos petrolíferos aumentaron durante varios meses de 2026. En mayo, Pemex reportó importaciones por 674.4 mil barriles diarios de productos petrolíferos, mientras que en junio la cifra fue de 639.4 mil barriles diarios. Para julio se ubicó en 565 mil barriles diarios.

En el caso de las gasolinas, las importaciones pasaron de 315.4 mil barriles diarios en abril a 427.3 mil en mayo y 376.9 mil en junio. Las importaciones de diésel, por su parte, alcanzaron 130.8 mil barriles diarios en mayo y 120.6 mil en junio.

La situación ocurre mientras el sistema de refinación enfrenta problemas operativos. Reuters reportó que ninguna de las refinerías de Pemex estaba funcionando a su capacidad de diseño y señaló dificultades relacionadas con mantenimiento, seguridad, disponibilidad de equipos y capacitación del personal.

Pemex reportó resultados diferentes frente al mismo periodo de 2025

Los datos deben analizarse considerando la comparación utilizada. En su reporte oficial del segundo trimestre, publicado el 31 de julio, Pemex informó que la producción de petrolíferos aumentó 3.4 por ciento frente al segundo trimestre de 2025.

La empresa también reportó incrementos anuales de 2.9 por ciento en la producción de gasolinas y de 19.3 por ciento en la de diésel. El proceso de crudo en refinerías creció 2.9 por ciento en la comparación interanual.

La diferencia entre ambos enfoques —la comparación trimestral utilizada por Reuters y la comparación anual presentada por Pemex— permite observar dos aspectos distintos del desempeño de la empresa: el retroceso registrado entre el primer y segundo trimestre de 2026 y la evolución respecto del mismo periodo de 2025.

Presión financiera y operativa

Reuters señaló que el incremento de las importaciones ocurrió mientras Pemex enfrenta problemas estructurales en sus refinerías y mayores costos asociados con el suministro de combustibles desde el exterior. Durante el segundo trimestre, el valor de las importaciones de gasolina aumentó 122 por ciento, hasta 4 mil 550 millones de dólares, mientras las de diésel crecieron 273 por ciento, hasta mil 510 millones de dólares.

El desempeño de la refinación representa un desafío para la estrategia energética del gobierno federal, debido a que una menor producción interna de combustibles puede elevar la necesidad de recurrir al mercado internacional para cubrir la demanda nacional.

La presión se suma a las necesidades de mantenimiento de la infraestructura de Pemex. De acuerdo con Reuters, fuentes consultadas por la agencia identificaron problemas relacionados con mantenimiento, seguridad, disponibilidad de refacciones y capacitación, factores que han limitado el desempeño de algunas instalaciones. –sn–
