  3. Néro & Sci ∫ Integral Edition: Math and Platforming Stuff ➕✖️➖➗

This curious little puzzle-platformer launched without much fanfare in May 2026 for consoles, followed by a Steam launch in August. It’s by French indie dev Souris-Lab and is a remastered version of its game A Tale of Synapse (2022).

Néro & Sci ∫ Integral Edition is a math-based platforming game. Standard sidescroller stuff is there, but you’ll be given a big old brain workout with this one alongside some rather intriguing abstract artistic shapes.

Maths and Stuff in Néro & Sci ∫ Integral Edition

Okay, this is most like the particle physics-based platformer Exographer (2024). There’s a lot of math going on here, with many puzzles to solve around a somewhat sedate pace.

It’s not one of the more dramatic 2D platformers out there, for sure, but what it does offer are some head-scratching type puzzle things to solve. All wrapped around a cute plot about intellectualism and not being stupid. The devs bill it as the game that makes you love math. There’s also this quote by Isocrates on the official site:

“Mathematics is a gymnastics of the mind and a preparation for philosophy.”

Now, we’re crap at mathematics (yes, plenty of autistic people are rubbish at it) and, yet, we did enjoy this one. It’s a game wher experimentation, observation, and logic are required to make progress.

Players take control of Néro the Synapsian who lives in this land called Curiosita, the capital of Heméide. It’s a land of intellectuals where everyone is very smug about themselves. However, one day Néro accidentally triggers off a curse that unleashes mathematical chaos into the world. Teaming up with this floating thing called Sci, you most head out and… do the math!

This is how it all looks in practice, then, with a very distinctive art style.

There are some 36 levels to explore across four worlds, including 20 hours of gameplay time! The above snippet of 90 minutes is only scratching at the surface of what Néro & Sci ∫ Integral Edition offers.

It’s even been recommended by the Institute for Research on Mathematics Education (IREM Lyon).

This does place it into the educational game genre, we believe, and is probably something you should force on your kids (if you have any) to make them somewhat like numbers and stuff. Although the recommended age range is for 13+, although there’s a walkthrough guide on Discord you can use if you’re stupid (like us) and get stuck a lot.

The main thing here it’s a rich, engaging, and charming platformer. The art style is lovely and constantly hints at abstract art formations and the mathematical potential within.

There’s a cute soundtrack, too, but none of it is (unusually) available online. Thus, can’t flag it up here. But we can recommend the game if you want a clever time of it with plenty of colours.
