I just found out about this site on the OSM Discord server.
It makes it VERY easy to update lane/turn restrictions.

On June 29, 2025, the Metrobus network in the Washington, DC area was radically altered overnight. Every route number changed, bus stops closed, and some routes became entirely different from the day before. This #SOTMUS2026 session explores how a few mappers quickly incorporated new data into OSM and inspired others to update bus networks in the surrounding area.

#DuckDuckFedi, is there any way to tag an #OSM node as pro-facist ? There's a hairdresser advertising for a far-right political party and I'd like to leave a warning for potential customers that they might not be safe there.

Έτσι στο άκυρο είπα να κάνω μια μεσονύχτια βόλτα για να δω αν η πρόσβαση σε δύο πάρκινγκ παραμένει ανοιχτή για τους πεζούς (τα έχω ήδη χαρτογραφήσει κάπως στο #OSM , να δω μήπως υπάρχει καλύτερος τρόπος να δηλώσω την παραξενιά αυτή 🤔).
Και ναι, είναι Skroutz Point αυτό στην τρίτη φωτογραφία. Είναι ένας λόγος που άνοιξαν τρύπα στον τοίχο ώστε να έχουν μόνιμα πρόσβαση κι από εκεί όσοι είναι, ταυτόχρονα δημιουργώντας παράκαμψη επειδή οι μπάρες μόνο τα αυτοκίνητα εμποδίζουν 😛.Είπα να ανεβάσω τις φωτογραφίες εδώ, απλά γιατί κάπως βγήκαν καλές 😛.

J’aimerais trouver un outil qui permet de faire des modifications sur une carte (ajouter des sens uniques, etc..) et des simulations GPS ensuite.
Est-ce qu’OpenStreetMap permettrait ça?
C’est en lien avec le plan communal de mobilité qui arrive dans ma commune. Je serais curieux de tester les trajets avec les nouveaux sens uniques prévus.

Mal eine Frge an die, die sich mit Openstreetmap auskennen.
Ist es möglich, dort als Hintergrund auch reale Bilder als Background zu haben, so wie das bei google möglich ist?
Die müssen gar nicht aktuell sein.
Ich würde gern eine Route mit uMap zeichnen und da nicht auf google ausweichen müssen, nur weil
da keine "Natur" und die Flächen zu sehen sind.
Aktuell sieht es so aus, nur ist das in real live schon Komplexer

Manchmal verstehe ich die Menschen nicht.War gerade bei Rossmann, an der Kasse eine Schlange aus 9 Personen daneben zwei unbenutzte Self-Check-out Kassen. Was soll ich sagen schneller war ich noch nie von Platz 10 auf Platz 1....und alle kucken nur.
Keine Ahnung aber sind diese SB-Kassen denn so ein Teufelszeug?
Ach ja die gewonnene Zeit investiere ich gleich noch in einen Espresso beim Italiener daneben.😊☕Für #Openstreetmap Nutzer, der passende tag dafür ist self_checkout

Ich surfe immer wieder mal in wikimedia_commons und wenn ich was interessantes finde verlinke ich vorzugsweise die Category: zu OSM und auch ein Bild zu wikidata. Oft findet man auch noch weitere Details auf den Bildern die man zu OSM hinzufügen kann. -

#Fedibrain question for people who use transfer hoists, or assist someone who does:
I'm looking into how transfer hoists should be mapped in OpenStreetMap, and I'd really like input from people with firsthand experience.
What information do you need to know beforehand to tell whether a hoist will work for you?
What differences between hoists can make one usable or unusable?
And what information would actually be useful to have on a map when planning a trip somewhere?

Der "Social Media"-Aspekt ist mir noch ziemlich gleich. Aber Reiseziele sortieren und anfahren geht mit #MagicEarth recht gut (welches aber hinter einer Paywall liegt - läuft das eigentlich noch mit OSM?), während es zum entdecken unbrauchbar ist. Das geht wiederum mit CoMaps/OrganicMaps noch eingeschränkt gut, während Bing Maps als "Branchenbuch" mit #OSM-Daten wiederum gut zu gebrauchen, aber kein Navi ist.
Es bräuchte aber wirklich mal eine Rundum-Plattform. -

As if right on cue, this article pops up in Danish media, less than a week after I start looking into mapping accessible bathrooms with adult changing tables.
It also highlighted to me that that transfer hoists aren't really tagged in OSM yet, so I've started an RFC to get consensus on the best way to do that.

Veganism is not a diet. It is a life style, or philosophical belief (according to a UK judge).
In #OpenStreetMap the most commonly used tag for veganisme is diet:vegan. This is pretty strange, especially to tag for example a clothes (shoe) shop with diet:vegan : only.

Bereits vor ein paar Tagen hat mir Bekannter die Info über einen "neuen" #Hungerstein bei Thundorf (Stadt Osterhofen) zukommen lassen. Erst jetzt bin ich allerdings dort persönlich vorbei gekommen. Da der Wasserspiegel der #Donau in den letzten Tagen durch den Regen zum Glück wieder angestiegen ist, aktuell um etwa 70cm seid Tiefststand liegt der Hungerstein jetzt natürlich bereits wieder unter dem Wasserspiegel. Für ein Foto hat es trotzdem gereicht, Wasserstand über dem Hungerstein gut Knietief. Die eingeschlagene Jahreszahl 2026 lässt sich aber erkennen.
PS.: Güterschiffe verkehren ebenfalls wieder.

In comparison: When I'm out and about with @CoMaps or another #OSM-based map, I can find good #freecamping / #wildcamping spots just by looking at the map, that's how much detail there is. :)

Every time I have to use #GoogleMaps I'm stunned by how low its data quality is and how little detail the map data has as compared to #OSM.
The only thing it seems to do well is routing cars and showing up-to-date #POI. Pedestrian or hiker? Mediocre. Cyclist? Low quality. Understanding your environment? Utterly useless.
(Edited: thinking about I felt "stunned" describes it better :)

In 2025, the OSM US & Mapillary Camera Grant Program distributed 40 cameras to the #OSM US community. This #SOTMUS2026 talk describes the grant program's impact from the perspective of one local mapper. It also discusses scaling street-level imagery collection in the US on Panoramax, a federated, free, and open-source platform.
