Day 8 of #31DayOSMChallenge for #Maptober. I tried to use the limited time I've spent in Europe to inform what I edited. Added details to a hotel I've been to before, and also added a bike rental that's outside the place!

I updated/added some buildings and features on the beautiful island of Zakynthos. While the UK is no longer in the EU (that might change soon!), it's still a part of continental Europe. So, I downloaded the latest official "London diplomatic list and other representative offices"[0] and started updating the Embassies and Consulates in London.

@MapRoulette posted a security incident notice for the #OpenStreetMap community
TL;DR: #MapRoulette fixed vulnerabilities that exposed API credentials and user email addresses; the credentials were revoked, there’s no evidence they were exploited, and only developers using API keys or self-hosting need to review the fixes.

@MapComplete's Etymology theme [0] allows you to add Wikidata IDs to roads, to identify what or who the road is named after. If you are looking for an easy way of adding Wikidata IDs to #OSM, I suggest you check this one.

ohsome 2.0 is released.
The new ohsome API, ohsome quality API, and ohsome dashboard are now available. Queries on #OpenStreetMap history return within seconds, and snapshot extraction works much better than before. ohsome-planet provides OSM history as GeoParquet for large-scale analyses.
We will shut down ohsome API v1 after November 30, 2026. The blog post covers migration, API keys, and the new collaborative plan for non-profit use.

As a result of that user's contribution spam, a wiki page was created to define that any kind of #AIagent usage for #OpenStreetMap or its wiki, should follow the Automated Edits code of conduct procedure for #OSM map data edits and get permission at Talk:Wiki for #Wiki edits.
