  1. Planning season is here.
Our Locus Map Web Planner is now faster and smoother thanks to a new map engine (MapLibre). Less waiting, fewer hiccups — more time shaping the perfect route.

Try it and tell us: do you feel the difference? Drop a comment!

  3. I had a lovely time at LinuxFest Northwest meeting and talking with folks interested in building maps with open stacks.

I'll post when the slides and video recording go up but feel free to reach out any time.

    Let's make some maps together!!

  4. We wrote a new #AI usage policy for #MapLibre.

I respect projects that ban AI outright. It was discussed as an option, and it's not unthinkable we will ever go there.

    github.com/maplibre/maplibre/b

tl;dr: don't let AI speak for you, disclose AI usage and verify AI assisted contributions before marking a PR as ready for review.

¿Porqué no la he migrado antes?

  6. Really like the map of Cartes.app, this web map comes with integrated clickable POIs and other great features. Uses MapLibre under the hood. Great project!

  7. @ianthetechie That's not the best route. Much nicer to go through the nature area all the way!

At least, that's what I think. Going to bike this route tomorrow on my way to giving a #MapLibre workshop. 🙂

  8. On the 17th of April I will be giving a #MapLibre introduction for beginners in Den Bosch, the #Netherlands. It's part of a beginner open source geospatial event.

  9. We've been working hard on our latest vector style - Transport! Our familiar global transportation map is now available in our Vector Styles API, for use with your #maplibre projects.

    thunderforest.com/maps/transpo

It's our most complex client-side style so far, but I'm very pleased with how it's turned out.

    Feedback is always welcome!

  10. Video about my maplibre-voice project for the Mistral Hackathon 2026:

Control your MapLibre map through voice control. Both fixed commands like "zoom in" and dynamic open ended commands possible.

  11. In #Berlin this weekend for a #dweb meetup. I hope to get some #MapLibre map-making goodness on the schedule of #dwebcamp this Summer.

In any case: no plans for Sunday yet. Suggestions welcome, or if someone wants to hang out, maybe work a bit together in a café, feel free to DM me!

  12. @ticho oh absolutely. What they are tacitly saying with this is they acknowledge that folks looking for mapping solutions are finding #MapLibre first and then need to be convinced to switch to a product that, with their pivot to a proprietary code base, is literally the raison d’être for MapLibre.

“MapLibre Tile (MLT) is a succesor to Mapbox Vector Tile (MVT). It has been redesigned from the ground up to address the challenges of rapidly growing geospatial data volumes and complex next-generation geospatial source formats, as well as to leverage the capabilities of modern hardware and APIs.”

  24. Oof that was a crazy #FOSDEM hotel hunt. But I got a good deal in the end and just a 12 minutes bike ride from the venue.

Got a #Flixbus (which uses #MapLibre btw) to and from Brussel. Cheaper and more convenient than by train. And I can still bring my folding bike.

    See you there?!

  25. made a quick interactive map of building heights in toronto (2025 data)

big fan of tippecanoe->pmtiles->maplibre->github pages workflow, can pretty easily take a ~300mb .shp like this and render it all in-browser (no fancy db, server, or saas hosting)
