  1. My @sotm presentation "Client Side Transport Maps on OpenStreetMap.org" is available online. I've put the video and a lightly-edited transcript up on our company blog:

Has anyone else tried converting a Mapnik style to Maplibre? Any similar or unusual challenges that you ran into? Tell me more!

Big thanks to the organisers of the conference, it was as always great fun to attend and to present there.

  2. Martin v1.15.0 lands two postprocessing features worth a look. convert_to_hillshade bakes shaded relief from Mapzen normal tiles, reading a 3x3 neighborhood so tiles have no seams at the edges. convert_to_contour traces contour lines from Terrarium tiles and serves them as MVT, so the client styles and labels them.

  3. MapLibre GL JS v6.8.0 is out. Terrain render-to-texture output now samples through mipmaps with trilinear filtering, so draped layers stop shimmering at high pitch.

Also a nice batch of load-time work: lazy Intl.Segmenter creation, shader programs linked before compile status is read, and default markers built once and cloned (roughly half the constructor time).
