The Derby Hippodrome opened in 1914, a 1000-1200-seat venue constructed out of red brick with terracotta dressings. The ceiling would have featured moulded panels and framings with elaborate Baroque plasterwork.
The theatre later became a cinema and finally a bingo hall, ultimately closing in 2007. It stood abandoned for decades before being demolished last year. A sad end to a beautiful building!

Łódź, Instytut Centrum Zdrowia Matki Polki. Tak, robię zdjęcia szpitala; po raz kolejny trafiła tam moja żona.
Mam nieuczesany stosunek do tego miejsca. Z zewnątrz to olbrzymi, przerażający kompleks, straszliwie zapuszczony i najlepiej pokazujący stan polskiej służby zdrowia. W środku pełno jest długich korytarzy bez okien i podziemnych łączników, wykładanych PRL-owską ceramiką, gdzie śmiało można kręcić horrory.
Z drugiej strony oddziały już są w większości wyremontowane, a każdego dnia lekarze dokonują tam niemożliwych rzeczy, ratując zdrowie i życie kobiet i dzieci (szpital jest specjalistyczny, ginekologiczno-położniczo-pediatryczny).Jednak w swoim przeskalowaniu i gigantyzmie ma pewien urok. Jest bardzo cichy, nawet jeśli ta cisza podlana jest bogato aurą urbexu i mroku. Drugi łódzki moloch, czyli szpital CKD, jest znacznie bardziej rozbiegany i zatłoczony.
W obydwu byłem znacznie częściej, niż bym chciał. #szpital #urbex #lodz #czmp
