I try to write poetry everyday, even if it's short. It keeps me focused on getting SOMETHING down, even if it's not exactly perfect. I try to bypass the editor of perfection in my brain.

I try to, just because it keeps me on a path where I'm constantly moving forward. Life gets in the way at times, and I also have MS, which is completely unpredictable. But trying is the point. Trying is what matters.

Again, this goes for all of my work, not just any particular story, and I move across genres rather easily.
Time for the answer...
I've written about "cemeteries" many times. They're one of my favorite settings. The same could be said for "gothic castles" as well, especially in #WingsOfQuietLonging. As for "taverns," they also feature heavily in my work. You'll find them often in stories such as #TheScarletMirror, #TheCityOfOpulence, and #WingsOfQuietLonging. The one thing I've never written about before, however, is "abandoned asylums" and all their horrifying spooky-ness.

#PhantastikPrompts 9/17: What do you do for balance or recovery after intensive writing times?
I daydream. I exercise, play games, play TTRPGs, read, watch telly and films, etc. All the normal things for creative people. Daydreaming is the best thing you could ever do for recovering or dealing with writer's block as well. I try to keep myself busy with *something* whenever I have free time.

How do detectives in fictional crime dramas not find the culprit by smell?
Got bleach on my hands this morning. It's now late afternoon, and despite washing them multiple times and applying moisturiser, every time I move my hands all I can smell is the bleach.
Surely killers who use bleach to clean up the crime scene will walk around for hours alerting anyone with a sense of smell?

No. I find “regular” goals don’t stick very well. One slip and too often it’s done.
I prefer insane goals in a limited timeframe. Like write the entirety of this first draft on my vacation. Or finish recording this audiobook before I take my book to the printer.
Lots of people talk SMART goals. No way. HARD goals for me.
Heartfelt, Animated, Required, and Difficult.

An idea is like wolf lichen.
You have one, leading to another, and another, but at some point that’s sooner rather than later, it ceases to be linear.
Ideas branch and spread, and one of the best things you can do is get the heck out of the way. Let them go, let them thrive.
In no time at all, if you nurture the environment, what you have is beyond what you dreamed possible.
