  1. It’s been years since I listened

    to that song
I’ve wondered what it was called
    or how the chorus went
the words were fuzzy like mittens
in the back of the closet
what was crystal in my mind
    was the way I felt
belting it out as I drove
    with the windows down
and the wind carrying away the pressure
to be accurate so I could focus
on pouring out what was bottled up
I knew from the guitar and the choir
    clapping the beat
    just before the first words
    dropped from her mouth
that I was going back to My Church
and I was singing along with a friend
    I’ve never met

  5. Misty Hills Of Verturia

Home to misty hills of Verturia
my heart guides me through tangled woods of time
where I build fortress of stone on the mound
heaped over bones of my ancestral soul
where I pluck gold crab apples from long limbs

  6. 7 Birds

The pair of blue jays let me know each dawn when they want their unshelled peanuts, my voice gilded and held in their throats when I finally speak up and answer their call.

  8. Whole Symmetry Of Accuracy

In arts of poetry and cartography
I love whole symmetry of accuracy,
so I arrange lithe words in sentences
and adjust points and lines in feature sets
    to better represent reality
    in virtual model that mirrors

  9. Frankenstein Of Our Selves

I will never relate confusing tale
of that many-faced man who is not real
because his spirit lingers in all books
as every character singers have formed
from tangled mess of their old memories
    that wanders as

  12. Precession

    The Sun, moon and stars
cross the sky with measured step,
    faithful to their course;
yet those who invoke their names
    leave behind a broken trail.

  13. The New Made Old

    The factory is pressing, cutting,
    shaping a new old world;
the books are digitally aged and
    the metal per-burnished, pitted
    by clever designs; they are
burying these new relics everywhere, they
    will be found and marveled at;
    history will circle, loop,
    sweep and maze, until
    nothing remains to be known,
    for everything is unknown.

  16. Creepy stalkers wear our glasses
Go around looking at women's a***
    Tracking everything that you've bought
Sell that data, fund my yacht
Nothing I ever do would be opt in
    Asking permission it's a sin
    Billionaires just take and take
What they want, too bad mate
    But alas what is worse
Are all the billionaire fans, they're a curse

  18. The Epicentre of Attention

    The grief was so profound,
    The pain so immense,
    that #AbelardoDeLaEspriella,
    With good reason,
Greeted the nation like a star,
Smiling as though no affliction could faze him,
    Posing before the whole country
Amid a situation of such gravity

  23. This is a poem about nostalgia that really focuses on watching X-Men on Saturday mornings growing up, and how as adults we're still trying to capture that same magic, despite time passing. Read it below:

Saturday Morning: A Poem about Nostalgia, Grief, and Simplicity

    Keep resurrecting and rebuilding
old graphics, pixels, theme songs, and art styles.
Once exiled, dead, against a backdrop
    of change, licensing, and technology.

I’m old now, my skin is dry.
My friends look more akin to their parents,
    and my memories pick and
    choose when to reappear.

    I want that dream-kiss.
The wonder-bite of happy and suspense
I had on Saturday mornings when the X-Men roared
    across time and space.

    To make me happy.
To leave the past and present
of bullies, divorce, homework, and bills.
A graveyard of living without dreams and joys.

Even if they’re bad, these resurrected and reanimated
    corpses of childhood
they’ll sing to me, remind me,
there was once a bit of jeweled, cartoon-wonder

    within me.

  30. There is recent talk
    of re-introducing wolves
    to this demi-nation
    of lambs and glaikit rams
    and scraggy ewes,
    (and – let’s face it –
hardly any shepherds left to care)…
