Of course this is after two phlebotomists poked her 4 times. Three inside the elbows and then succeeded on the back of her hand. This is the lab we were referred to after the clinic we visited on Wednesday failed after 4 other pokes.

We are not getting the best phlebotomists here. Mr. President, we must not allow a phlebotomist gap!

I went to the clinic today to get some bloodwork done. As the phlebotomist prepped the vials, I asked her how they draw blood from amputees with no arms. This boggled her. She said she had no idea, but guessed they'd have to get it done at a hospital where maybe the blood would be drawn from a leg. #phlebotomist #amputee #blood

This treatment changes my life from bedridden to 60% of normal in a few months! That’s mildly ill in comparison.
It helps every symptom I have.
Hospitals only give it for preeclampsia. Hospital in the Home is the same. Private nurse services same.

It’s not illegal to have someone qualified come out and do it as long as doc has signed off on it which is why wellness clinics can do it. But medical system won’t. I know it doesn’t make sense but it’s Australia 2024. If you don’t have formal qualifications we can figure it out.

Scheduled for my semi-annual #pulmonary function test next month. Ah, the joys of breathing into – and out of – tubes other people have. Best I can manage is scheduling for first appointment Wednesday, four days after the other day tests are done.

I am trained in #venepuncture, so I can take blood. But even I wouldn’t have a go at taking it from someone like me.

But that day, I actually DID NOT FEEL THE POKE AT ALL! Mad, mad respect to the phlebotomists who can do such painless and awesome blood draws. She'd also taped chemistry memes to the wall at her station, and this was one of them. #medicine #labwork

So ends another weekend. Tomorrow afternoon I go back to work in the lab. I love my weekends, but I also love being a phlebotomist, I love being on a team that helps make diagnoses, helps figure out a treatment plan and then monitors it. When I was in the Army, I was taught to run towards where I’m needed - and this is where I’m needed. #phlebotomist
