@liztai #Hevy is the best I’ve found. It’s the spiritual successor to #Strong and has active development by people who actually use the app. Highly recommend. https://www.hevyapp.com/

I was part of an online running (Dead Runners Society) forum for 20+ years and have met my Dead Friends in a lot of locations. I'll be travelling to meet some in Eugene, OR on my spring #roadtip this year. I also was part of #couchsuring and hosted 50+ people during my stay in #Vietnam. I've kept up contact with some of my surfers for a long time.
You should definitely visit #koreatown with your nephew and a visit to a #JjinJilBang would be a great shared experience! -

Lmao burst out laughing when poor Dinesh saw Gabe.
"F**king Gabe!"
Sigh I miss Silicon Valley. Just about the only show that could make me laugh.
When you work in tech, and am a tech nerd yourself, you just know these people are real 😆

#makanapatoday Apam balik, the thick kind. I swear, I will stay in Malaysia purely for the food.

To get rid of fuel subsidies we must change the way we live and structure our cities.
I made a very conscious choice of living in a 15-minuye city. Just a five to ten minutes walk from my apartment is a row of shophouses that had everything I need to live - from supermarkets to restaurants and cafes to even dentists, clinics and a hardware shop. I can stay in this radius and live well. If I want to travel further, a 15-min walk away is a train station, and if I walk a little further another station. I can take this light rail to visit my parents who live a few stations away and heck even my brother lives a few stations away. If I want to go to a hypermarket I just need to hop on the train and get there.
On top of that I work remotely. If I need to go to the office in KL, I take the light rail too.
As a result, I can stretch a full tank ⛽ for two months.
Towns like mine do exist in malaysia, but oddly suburb-like towns are getting de riguer especially among the monied. But I don't think I will want to live so car dependently. More towns need to be built like mine.
PS: As I know some folks would prob wanna discuss the subsidies with me. Do read first about how Malaysia's oil subsidies are different than those implemented in some Western countries. In Malaysia these subsidies are considered a social contract of sorts; free market economics etc isn't something we adhere to religiously.

A short, impactful read about the impact of the Japanese internment camps in the United States on a family. Being able to write so sunccintly yet leave such a huge impact is an underrated skill.

Ok I am pleased that my investing strategy is almost exactly like his. 😁
I made a decision early on to invest in VT (global stocks) vs the more popular VOO because...I follow #geopolitics. (In fact that's one of the reasons why I keep up to date - to make financial decisions.)
I also invested in gold, something I sniffed at due to the movements I observed in the market and in geopolitics. And also hold more cash now for the same reason.
I am honestly a boring investor. I don't invest in shares well so I just stick to boring ETFs 🤭

Claude is the "cool kid" of the retail AI services world. However, thanks to its snobbish attitude to some geographical locations, token limitations, and corporate ethos I ended up in the arms of Mistral. Why I use Mistral and why it honestly doesn't matter how great the model is as long as it serves your needs.

No matter how many times I come to KLCC Park, Kuala Lumpur s version of Central Park, I will always gain a new perspective.

Rice by Su Tong. I remember being entranced by the beauty of the prose, or rather, this translation. But I remember thinking that Western publishing houses will only translate novels from authors who depict China in a depressing light. Back then that's all the novels available in English from China.
The Chinese tradition has all kinds of novels, among them adventure and mystery stories, and I wished that the West would touch more on those. It's only in recent years that they have explored unique Chinese genres like wuxia (Louis Khoo).

Probably the most riveting crime thriller I've read. The quietness of the characters, all hiding layers of secrets, was fascinating. Going to be recommending books from my side of the world to add some variety to the book feed.

Although it is still difficult for authors to make big bucks in China, what I envy about their publishing ecosystem is that there's a robust digital webnovel scene where anyone can publish serialized stories on platforms accessed by millions. There's also a system where readers can unlock new chapters with credits, film studios can buy rights to novels.

We have wonderful trains but the Butterworth train station is frankly a freaking nightmare, which is why I do everything to avoid it. Hot, stuffy, badly designed etc. fortunately they are planning upgrades. I pray the person designing it won't be the same doofus who designed Penang Sentral because that's another nightmare and half.

It's stunning, beautiful, addictive, a reverse harem CDrama which attempts to comment on patriarchy and the powder dynamics of ancient China, but let's not think too deeply about this, shall we? It's a drama about pretty people and tea.

Lestat was right about Louis, in the books, movie and TV series. He is one whiny, self-absorbed fella 😆

Performed Qing Ming (or Cheng Beng as we Hokkiens call it) early April in Poh Tay Temple, Penang. It's a yearly ritual I look forward to and I help my parents do it by being their travel operator 🥲
Many of my ancestors spirit tablets are here. But when I asked what year my ancestors came to Malaysia, my relatives couldn't answer. I say it's safe to say we've been here in Penang for two centuries.
My cousins belong to the Khoo clan, who has a grand ol clan house on Penang island. The Tai family is not as well known or prestigious 🤭
