Dance of the Sea Breeze
Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks? I’m learning to appreciate our cool weather. Grateful, even.
For the first time, the prospect of autumn doesn’t make me feel like I’m missing out on something better. I don’t mind the cold anymore, bring it on!The kids’ school starts in August and the seemlingly endless summer days of freedom will give way to routine, order, discipline, but also to hobbies, friends, and the end of “Mum, I’m bored!”
Though the seasons change, some things remain constant, like the sea breeze. Reassuringly, it’s always there. Sometimes faint, barely a whisper, and at other times strong and feisty.
I like watching the breeze bend tall grasses, inviting them to dance. Chasing butterflies, just out of reach. Offering seagulls a wild ride. The seagulls laugh.Carefully arranged, vibrant patches of field come to life right amongst our urban apartment buildings.

Tha an talamh a' cumail a h-anail — the earth is holding her breath.

2. A much earlier start than I expected, with a #thunderstorm & a #downpour rolling in at 5:30am. But that's how it goes this time of year, as we shift into real #summer warmth. Glad to be in a place that has real #weather, able to #experience the #seasons.
3. The #encouragement I've been receiving from friends for the #ReadyAndResilient Hour. We took some time to discuss feedback at the end of our hour on Wednesday & I'm reviewing it now.

of clouds, swimming on their slow grey backsin still water. These and the spring-bare trees,
and the winter teat of thawed leaf mould,
and the new birds on old nests, breast-brave,egg-rich and cocksure, and the first fawn
mothered in close twilit last-year's bracken
say the old songs in the blood (again), the storiesand the root-songs sung to the wordless waters
passing these, through and among, to the sea:
we all do this, take breath and be not afraid.
