Also, belated #FootpathFriday...
I absolutely love board walks and southern Bavaria has a decent amount (and distance) of them due to hundreds of swamps and moors, remnants from the melting ice age glaciers...
(I thought, I had this post scheduled to go out yesterday, but somehow I messed up the dates, so now manually, one day later...)

August 22, 1983, 43 years ago today: About halfway through the hike, high up on the slope of Glastenbury Mountain, I arrived at Glastenbury Mountain Shelter. A heavy downpour had just concluded, and the sky was brightening considerably as the rain tapered off into a fine mist. The shelter was packed with hikers, including Crazy Charlie and several other thru-hikers.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #nature #forest #mountains #Vermont #AppalachianTrail

August 22, 1983, 43 years ago today: August 22, 1983, 43 years ago today: I passed below a power line about two miles into the hike. That is where the first raindrops of the day began to spatter against my face. Soon, I was wearing my rain gear and the rain was coming down steadily. It never completely stopped during the remainder of the hike.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #nature #forest #mountains #Vermont #AppalachianTrail

If economics can be said to speak, it needs to shout LOUDLY about proper green regeneration (rather than plant-a-tree make-work): “Scientists found that natural #forest regeneration delivered substantial carbon and #biodiversity benefits and could be up to 96% cheaper than traditional tree-planting programs.” 🌳🌲🌴🎄
Fabulous news - thanks so much for sharing! 😀🙏🏻

As nations race to restore ecosystems and curb #climate change, research has shown that letting #nature do the work is a cost-effective, viable solution.
Scientists found that natural #forest regeneration delivered substantial carbon and #biodiversity benefits and could be up to 96% cheaper than traditional tree-planting programs.
Forests are Earth's #life-support systems, and tropical forests are the most biodiverse among all forest types, covering 18% of the land and home to more than half of all land vertebrate #species.
They are also a giant carbon sink, so when deforestation happens, we not only stop the forest from taking up carbon, but we also flip it and turn it into a carbon source.
