OTOH, my mother and many others called the local #TurkeyVultures (Cathartes aura) buzzards or #TurkeyBuzzards.

Just finished putting up the decorations so we're ready for Turkey Vulture Day.
The Turkey Vulture breeds in southern farmland and open forest habitats in all provinces and their population has dramatically increased in the last 50 years. They use their keen vision and excellent sense of smell to locate food, flying low enough to detect the gasses produced by decaying flesh. The stag was likely struck by a vehicle. He was lying on the side of the road. The #TurkeyVultures are one of nature's biggest cleaners. They swoop down from above, a kind of angel of death/sanitation service... They do important work. Gratitude. #ScianewTerritory

Well, this is something you don't see every day. A dead #squirrel was lying on a sidewalk next to the street. Two #turkeyvultures were trying to pull out its intestines.
