I spent quite a bit of time exploring Blue Lake in the North Cascades, looking for different ways to photograph the fall colors.
This view caught my eye because of the golden larches in the foreground, the dark evergreens, and the mountain reflected in the still water.
It was a beautiful place to spend an autumn afternoon. 🍂🏔️

This clump of nifty #mushrooms was growing right at the base of a #CoastalRedwood in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, which is one of the magnificent #CaliforniaStateParks I visited this week.
🕷️ NEW: A University of #BritishColumbia researcher surveyed #SalishSea sea spiders across one field season and described two #species new to #science, the first in nearly a century.
One has hairy legs and grooming limbs, the other a messier body covered in #parasites. Both were registered in a global database with #DNA #data.
