  3. #Jetson Orin Nano #Ubuntu is very unfriendly with no good native apps and is relatively slow running most programs. So, it is only good for doing some small LLM inferencing and #edgeAI stuff like #LiDAR which I don't care cause I will be using #esp32 for that purpose.

    But the good news is, I can use Pi Apps which uses #Flatpak, allowing some of my favorite apps. like #Obsidian notes, to run on this Jetson board that runs on an ARM 64 version of Ubuntu.

    The service, called WorldView 3D, went live on July 1. It draws on a fleet of 10 satellites imaging Earth’s surface at 12-inch (30-centimeter) resolution, according to Space.com. The 3D views are constructed by combining multiple images taken from different orbital angles, then refreshed on a daily cadence — a speed the company says is impossible to match with aircraft or drones over remote or contested territory.
    According to the company’s launch announcement… the service would enable rapid updates of remote and contested areas, calling it the future of spatial intelligence….
    The product comes in two tiers…:
    • Standard resolution delivers 20-inch (50 cm) imagery with 13-foot (4-meter) accuracy in all directions.
    • The HD tier tightens that to 6-inch (15 cm) resolution with 10-foot (3-meter) positional accuracy in three dimensions.
    Those numbers matter for a specific reason. Traditional 3D mapping — the kind used by autonomous vehicle companies and defense contractors — has historically relied on aircraft flights, drone surveys, or LiDAR passes. Those methods produce excellent detail. They also require physical access to the airspace above the target.
    Vantor’s pitch is that satellites remove the access problem. A constellation in low Earth orbit passes over hostile territory as freely as it passes over Kansas…”

  22. 3D-контроль кузова: как отличить исправную фуру от бракованной без участия человека

    Клиент - производитель строительных материалов. Каждый день на погрузку стройматериалов приезжают десятки фур. При этом, габариты паллет, на которых грузят материалы, фиксированы жестко, а вот реальные размеры машин — нет. Внешне кузов может выглядеть ровным прямоугольником, а внутри могут быть скрыты «сюрпризы»: заниженная к кабине крыша, выгнутые борта или самодельные крючки на дверных стойках. Глазом эту кривизну не оценить. В момент погрузки, вилочный погрузчик заносит паллету шириной 2,40 метра, а она упирается в “неучтенный” выступ внутри кузова. Цена такой ошибки — повреждённый груз, развёрнутая на КПП машина, простой ворот, сорванный график отгрузки. Решение заказчика: поставить человека на осмотр: сотрудник заглядывает в кузов и по визуальному осмотру решает, грузить фуру или разворачивать. Это медленно, субъективно, не масштабируется, а отказы по геометрии кузова составляют заметную долю разворотов. Задача, которую решала наша команда: автоматизировать осмотр кузова перед погрузкой. Убрать сотрудника из точки принятия решения и выдавать решение “грузить / не грузить” на основании математических расчетов и реальной геометрии. Планка задана высокая. Нужно замерять сразу три габарита:

The methodology for such flood studies has evolved, and access to more powerful computational resources and high-resolution base data has contributed to the increased use of two-dimensional hydraulic modelling, where one-dimensional modelling previously was the default. However, local-scale flood studies face real-world constraints, including sparse data, challenging hydrologic conditions, and budget limitations, which can hinder the application of advanced techniques. This study addresses these challenges through innovative, practice-driven solutions in two case studies in Alberta, Canada: a small, partly channelised prairie stream network (Wolf Creek, Lacombe) and a laterally dynamic river on a distributary delta (Swan River, Kinuso). Three core components of flood hazard studies are described: field survey data collection, regional hydrology assessment, and hydraulic modelling.   34. Had an old #Xaomi #robot #vacuum that we had for like 8 years. One of the very first models that had #lidar scanning. Those things have advanced a lot since then! Recently updated to a #Roborock #Qrevo Pro and damn all the problems I had with the old one are pretty much gone.
