They marked the graves of a couple of local men who fought for the Union side in the Civil War and were killed in an ambush by Confederate loyalists while attempting to go home on leave.

May 26, 1983, 43 years ago today: After Lovers Leap was some easy woodland hiking before the Appalachian Trail followed a gravel road for a short stretch through some massive, very scenic meadows in a place called Mill Ridge. Years ago, those meadows used to be tobacco fields. I was enjoying the day.

In the West Salmon Mountains of Trinity Alps Wilderness, day 2 followed better trail, as we headed up to Horse Ridge Trail along Horse Trail Ridge, tagging Trinity Summit (Guard Station) and North Trinity Mountain along the way. It hardly ever lost us!

When you use power banks on the trail you have to charge just enough.

While your phone is plugged into the power bank your phone runs at full power thinking it has unlimited wall power. If you plug your phone into your bank and leave it overnight your phone will suck down the power all night long.

I charge my phone starting at dinner time to about %85-95 then unplug it. I may read or watch a movie then I turn it off until morning.
