  6. Teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de problemas que hay en software de código abierto por culpa de contribuciones hechas por LLMs la postura de los desarrolladores de Ladybird me parece la adecuada.
Ahora lo que les falta es dejar de usar GitHub.

(Seems like they are struggling to find a new workaround for YouTube blockages. Would be sad to lose one of the most feature-rich YouTube clients, but at least it can still be used as a "sub manager" or search engine, links can be copied to yt-dlp, inv.nadeko.net, an external video player, etc. (although inv.nadeko.net also breaks sometimes, or is extremely slow))

  9. Me:
    > Also why they decided to start from scratch, instead of forking at least some components of a working libre browser

Again, further reading has allowed me to answer my own question. SerenityOS was an itch-scratching project where the goal was to try out entirely new approaches. One of the reasons for spinning Ladybird into its own entity is to move away from that, and start making use of existing code where it makes sense.

  10. "I love SerenityOS, and I love the community that has formed around it. I don’t want to hold it back anymore by being a distracted BDFL. This is why I’ve also decided to step down. Effective immediately, SerenityOS is now in the hands of its maintainer group. They’re a lovely bunch of people, and I trust they’ll take good care of it."

  11. Can someone more in the know remind me of what's happening with #serenityos and #ladybird ? I remember a while ago there was a bunch of controversy for some reason or another, but given the sheer volume of horrors lately I don't remember the details. Just want to make sure I'm not gonna be supporting a n*zi or something (ie: suckless) if I decide to check it out.

  12. My latest post for TNW is with Andreas Kling, who built a new retro-inspired operating system #serenityos and is now building an independent browser, #Ladybird

Read about his journey through large tech, rehab, and coding live streams watched by 1000s of fans.
