  1. Own a piece of aviation history: Icelandair’s iconic Northern Lights plane turned into keychains.

Icelandair’s Hekla Aurora, a Boeing 757-200, was retired in October last year having delighted plane spotters with its stunning livery since 2014.

Now, Icelandair has teamed up with Aviationtag to take the aircraft skin and transform it into a limited edition series of keychains.

  2. Beams

This photo has been horribly overworked, I admit it, but there is method in my madness.

This was taken looking almost directly upwards from below a KP7 auroral display. It was quite cloudy but the aurora was so bright that it cast a shadow at my feet.

When I first processed the image, I didn't think there was much of interest in it. More editing revealed these fabulous green beams, seeming to disappear into infinity.

  7. Ich dachte schon, ich hätte sie schon WIEDER verpasst. Heute Abend auf gut Glück zum Stadtrand zu den #BornhorsterWiesen gefahren und diese Fotos machen können. Bin immer noch total geflasht.

  8. Noctourism: Why the Northern Lights will be even more impressive this winter - and where to see them.

The elusive aurora borealis could put on its strongest performance this winter in over a decade, as solar activity reaches its peak.

A solar phenomenon has led to ‘extraordinarily high’ demand for a quadfecta of prime-positioned destinations.

  9. We had a very good night, Friday. The May 10 aurora “storm” produced displays visible even directly overhead at our 41° latitude location. We will note that to the unaided eye, colors and shapes were very subtle; rays from the aurora were easily mistaken for clouds! Like some sort of magical viewers, smartphones and cameras shooting long exposures boosted brightness and color in real time revealing amazing shapes and colors. #aurora #northernlights #solarmaximum

  10. It's the reason for the season: Happy Solstice!

It's been a month since we last saw the sun, and we have one more month to go until the next sunrise. Meanwhile we're enjoying a different kind of light dancing across the sky almost daily.

  12. Bought a kid's #ColouringCase for #BeardGrabber, which contains a variety of pencils, water colouring paint, water colour pens, a marker pen, and an assortment of oil pastel #crayons.

After seeing how they stood out on a black sheet of paper while trying them out with him on the train, I decided to take them out for a spin myself too.

Ended up drawing an #AuroraBorealis scene using a photo from Aurora Borealis Tromsø as guideline.

Quite satisfied with how it turned out, but I think I need to look up some tips for using #OilPastelCrayons. :)

The black mountain outlines feel a bit too blurry; probably need to go over them a second time for a bit more crisp details.
