I'm Bolt. I am a day angel, and I suffer from depression…
As her author, dredging from my personal experience of depression, which isn't organic depression but rather psychological depression, is that Bolt feels she's lost the ability to control her life…yet harbors the illusion (delusion?) that she ever had that ability. She has become increasingly apathetic to the point that intellectually she no longer cares whether she lives or dies. In the moment, survival instinct still kicks in; friends witnessing her stunts flying recklessly in the city might disagree, however. She has concluded her inability to care is the reason why she has holes in her memory (spoilers to clarify)—and, no she doesn't drink until she blacks out. Her one joy in life, flying crazy fast and flying crazy stunts, is what keeps her going; she has to workout and train hard. Her street photography—and the plastering of every wall and the ceiling on her home with candid intimate photos people living normal lives—is what is keeps her in touch with reality.
It is the friends she is involuntarily and inadvertently making by having her photography "discovered" that are transforming her life.
