one had best keep one's opinions to oneself and do as one is told, or be fed to very hungry beasts. or worse.
if one is quite fortunate, the Ancients one serves will actually like their human servants, and one will live a satisfying and enjoyable existence.
if not...well...sucks to be one.

In most of them, no; absolute monarchies tend not to like them very much. XD
For anything modern (Jerako, my space stuff, etc.), the answer is yes, but as much of a proponent of voting I am, it has never come up as a story event. Superhero League of Wausau mentions it explicitly as a political comedy, but there's no mission for it.

Interesting... My setting is very feudal dictatorshippy, but student elections are a bit of a staple of college comedies. Is there a student council president or something more feudal?
I've already decided to have Greek-letter organisations (or at least one of them)
It all needs more thought. Or maybe random decisions made at another time.

The women's suffrage movement, and three of its campaigners, play major roles in Three Men in Orbit. The titular three men find themselves more or less swayed by the force of their arguments, and by the vigour with which they fight for the vote.

They do in the Modern Era. The final sequel, Fury's Gift, has an election as the centerpiece for the first part of the story. A few characters win elections. Characters also vote, one instance of which happens within the narrative.

So far there have been two elections, both concerning the Council.
At the end of the first book Nathan was unanimously elevated to a position on the Council In recognition of services rendered.
The second election took place when Nathan stood down as he realised he felt uneasy with the responsibilities he’d inherited as a Council member.
At this stage revealing the identity of his successor could be viewed as being a spoiler.

The current WIP is an absolute monarchy where much of the authority and stewardship of wealth has been delegated provisionally by the "crown." Elected shareholders, ES as they're called (consistent with MP in a parliamentary system), are popularly elected to stewardship roles, but the politics are ignored in the current crop of stories.
In a previous novel, the protagonist is convinced by friends to run as a member parliament as a religious person (she's a well known shaman), someone that has experience in diplomacy (accidentally), and a business owner / aspirational class climber. There are debates and dirty tricks played, but her fame and integrity help her win her district. Unfortunately for her, when various political factions can't form a government, she becomes the compromise choice for prime minister.
