My Word of the Day today is CULVERKEY. Share YOUR words to describe this picture in the comments!

A culverkey is an obsolete English term for a meadow plant, possibly the columbine or the bluebell squill.
It was also used historically to refer to flowers gathered to make garlands.

There must be some kinda malarkey going on though as the image is showing what seems to be a cloistered garden, not a meadow.

  5. #PennedPossibilities 1101: What creature or monster would your MC or SC love to keep as an unconventional pet? Why is that?

It’s not that Nathan wants one, but he’s curious about why neither Vicky nor her mother have a cat seeing as they’re hereditary witches.

I was sure I’d written about this yet there's no mention of it.

Not only are my characters doing as they please, the books have begun to selectively rewrite themselves.

I’ve just finished reading Sierra Six by Mark Greaney.

Although it’s outside of my preferred genres I find I can sometimes come across ideas which I can rewrite into a fantasy setting, perhaps coming up with something a little different in the process.

As a throwaway thriller, the plot’s not worthy of discussion, but I was tickled pink to learn that Signal, an App used for communication between members of the Unreal Writers is also said to be an application favoured by clandestine operatives. Cool, Huh?

If one of your characters could ask you a question, what would they ask?

I know that Nathan’s curiosity has been aroused by the reports of a mysterious figure who some of his colleagues have come across who claims to be a writer researching the existence of magic and the supernatural in London.

I’m certain Nathan would have a lot of questions for that guy…

  20. Diana Wynne Jones, an English author was born on this day in 1934.

She was a hugely entertaining author of speculative fiction novels for children and young adults.
Don’t let the YA label put you off, her books are worth reading whatever your age.

Mainly fantasy, but also incorporates science fiction themes like time travel and parallel universes, and elements of realism.

Some of her best-known works are the Chrestomanci heptalogy, the Dalemark Quartet, the Moving Castle trilogy, Dark Lord of Derkholm, and The Tough Guide to Fantasyland. The latter being my favourite work which I view as a pr-cursor to the Evil Overlord List.

Thank you again for all the information / education elements you share with us.

As you mentioned Boukman Eksperyans, may I add one song by as an example? I like it very much:
    tidal.com/track/2513051/u
(This track has been banned from Haitian airwaves because the band was regarded as a radical threat)

TIDAL offers some more music from this band. So it can be explored.

My Word of the Day today is DENDRIFORM. Share YOUR words to describe this picture in the comments!

From Ancient Greek, déndron, “tree,” along with -iform, from Latin, fōrmis, “having the form of,” from fōrma, “form, contour, figure, shape, appearance, looks,” meaning having a branched structure similar to a tree.

Etymologically speaking, such word construction is considered bad form as it combines two different languages.

I suppose the guy who came up with the word could be said to have been branching out…
