On November 9, 1989:
The fall of the Berlin Wall was a pivotal moment in history that symbolized the end of Cold War-era division and repression in Europe; it led directly to the reunification of Germany and inspired a wave of democratic movements across Eastern Europe. This event demonstrated the collective power of ordinary citizens and transformed the global order by breaking down the barriers—both physical and ideological—between East and West, encouraging greater cooperation, freedom, and openness for millions.

However , also, on November 9, 1938:
Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, was a pivotal, state-orchestrated anti-Jewish pogrom carried out across Nazi Germany on November 9–10, 1938, marking a decisive escalation in Nazi persecution of Jews from discrimination and exclusion to systemic, state-sanctioned violence. Over those two days, more than 1,000 synagogues were burned, around 7,500 Jewish businesses were vandalized, dozens of Jews were murdered, and about 30,000 men were arrested and sent to concentration camps, signaling the start of mass incarceration simply because of their faith. The dramatic destruction, carried out by Nazi paramilitary groups and supported by civilians, shattered any remaining illusions of Jewish safety in Germany, directly foreshadowed the Holocaust to come, and shocked the world with its scale and brutality.

Een verenigd front van antifascistische bondgenoten organiseert een inclusieve herdenking van de Kristallnacht.
Herdenken is een daad van solidariteit. Wij herdenken de slachtoffers van fascisme, toen en nu.
Wij zeggen: “Nooit Meer” betekent nooit meer, voor niemand – in het bijzonder het Palestijnse volk. Wier onderdrukking en doorgaande genocide moet stoppen. Vrede zonder gerechtigheid is geen vrede.
Fascisme groeit wereldwijd. Extreemrechtse knokploegen terroriseren vluchtelingen en vallen gemarginaliseerde groepen aan. Antisemitisme, racisme, moslim- en transhaat zijn openlijk aanwezig in politiek en op straat. De geschiedenis heeft laten zien waar dit in de jaren ‘30 toe leidde.
Sluit je aan. Laten we samen leren van de geschiedenis, ons verzetten en in actie komen tegen onrecht.

CALL TO ACTION: KRISTALLNACHT COMMEMORATION – Never Again. For Anyone.
Sunday 9 November | 18:30 Monument to Jewish Resistance, Amsterdam
A united front of anti-fascist allies is organising an inclusive commemoration of Kristallnacht.
Commemoration is an act of solidarity. Together, we remember the victims of fascism, then, now and always.
We say: “Never Again” truly means never again, for anyone - especially for the Palestinian people, whose oppression and continued genocide must be stopped and those who enable it, through their silence, funding, weaponry, direct and indirect violence, brought to justice. There is no peace without justice.
Fascism is growing across the world. Far-right hooligans terrorise refugees and attack marginalised groups. Antisemitism, racism, Islamophobia, and transphobia are openly present in politics and on the streets. History showed where this can lead in the ‘30s.
Let us honour history and resist injustice together.

Did I tell you, my #libs and #Democrats and #lefties, to acquire a firearm to protect yourself and your families? Yes I did. Since 2010 or so. They may indeed come for the armed, but rarely do they do it *first*. Avoid your #Kristallnacht because they sure as hell are planning it. If you are #Gay or #POC, well, you are the good people who convinced me to change my mind on #guns in the first place, so I appreciate you. #2nd #secondamendment
