Just because I pointed out that Daniel Supernault slopped off Pixelfed and I'll leave Loops because of that got my account "disabled", whatever that means.

Uh-huh, ban people not because they violate your ToS, but because they say things you don't like...

I'm not trying to do any direct call outs but I just saw an account post on one of those about the issue from an absolutist anti ai stance, and the account was used just to repost largely brainrot, much of which had Instagram and tiktok watermarks, and I felt that was profoundly hypocritical. I'm sitting with that feeling right now and trying to figure out exactly what to do with it and why I want to post about it.

Is not merging AI slop in the exact same category as reposting corpo slop? And pixelfed is on GitHub, of all places, perpetrator of both, so that should have been the first disqualifying element in a sane would. This doesn't add up to me.

There's little reason to use a platform that gives you the ick, but spreading FUD readily without reflection is gross too. My concern is for the social graph as a whole, especially as any kind of hope I have for sovereign tech will be littered with people tolerating AI in some capacity to effect a larger goal, and I know I don't want to excise their contributions from an absolutist perspective, I want them to try to do better and keep coming back when they make mistakes.

As tangible examples of each side TODAY, congrats to Libreboot for being #NeverSlop, and while it may take a bit to figure out if I can use that on the laptop I'm setting up to be my minimum-slop daily driver (with some partitions being full Never Slop), I *was* able to delete my #Loops account today in immediate reaction to @dansup setting up for agentic development on #Pixelfed.

EDIT: Figured out what my laptop model is. Cithria is some form of HP Victus, I suspect this one exactly (CW: Amazon https://www.amazon.com/HP-Victus-i5-13420H-GeForce-Keyboard/dp/B0FX95JBBJ?th=1). None of those are supported by Libreboot yet, and probably aren't super high up on the priority list, so I don't have to worry about leaping into action to rewrite my firmware or purchase a flasher any time soon. But I'd love to financially support the project after I get a job, at least.
