I'm reading a really interesting article about recording a sound source using the Mid-Side (M/S) technique instead of normal stereo. Part of it makes use of a bidirectional/figure-8 microphone, which I'd never heard of before.
I process audio using Mid-Side all the time, but I've never recorded it this way. Didn't know you could!
If you're not familiar with Korneff, they're a company run by audio professionals which makes software plugins for music-making. Crucially, they also regularly publish how-to articles on a range of music production tasks. Always very useful, fun reads.

I just found out that #decibelLinux AKA #Gentoo Studio exists.
Apparently it's been around for a while. They recommed using #SystemRescueCD to install which is a little funky but, not surprizing in the slightest. lol
Today I spent transferring files off my old #laptop b/c I realized that it wasn't using the ancient dedicated GPU & I messed up installing the drivers like a n00b. So, now I'm going to try out some new OSes. See what I can get installed & run RAID 0.
Other contenders are:
• #AVLinuxMX, #EnlightenmentDE & #MokshaDE versions
• #LMDE which'll make a solid fallback b/c I am most familiar w/ #Debian based distros. -

Anybody have any thoughts on a USB audio interface? Windows no longer sees my Akia EIE and #Cakewalk doesn't like ASIO4All and it won't pick up the MIDI either so I think a new interface is required - 2 in/ 2 out minimum and I'm running everything through a 4 bus desk.

So, I'm going to be moving into a house next month, after nearly 11 months of living in an RV. Once we get settled, I will be rebuilding my music studio that has been packed up for over 2 years. It's a small one, not some big pro setup, and it's going to be a weekend warrior project that's going to take time between cost and time constraints.
