CW: #BMW Ads in cars...thoughts.
So I've been mulling this over for half a month as I really wanted to think about what this means to BMW.
For those not paying attention back in July #BMW put an advertisement in their start up screen. They will claim it was just a special treat. I claim anything that promotes something and gives you a QR code to buy tickets is a freaking advertisement. Period. End of freaking story.
But whatever.
Earlier this year BMW announced their new 2027 i3 EV. I've been holding off getting an EV as I felt the platform really hadn't matured yet. (In a perfect world I want a solid state battery but that is 5-10 years off still.) the i3 looks to be the sweet spot.
I literally have been obsessing over it. Watching every video, reading every article I could find on it. To the point that in June I got on a waiting list at our local Motorwerks.
Then this crap happened. Overnight my interest evaporated. I hate ads in general. But it is one thing to get them on a $1000 phone. A $1000 TV. In a restroom, on the radio or over the air TV. It is another thing to get them on a freaking upper 5 figure vehicle.
I don't care if they claim this is a one off.
This is a break of trust with your consumer after claiming in 2023 that there will be no ads in a car. Who is going to guarantee that this isn't going to happen again for the next Batman movie? Then a Rolex ad, then a Delta ad? At this point I may as well get a Kia, as at least something that cheap I would expect ads in it. Not a freaking car that is upper 5 figures.

Ja, das konkrete Beispiel spricht eher gegen #Solarenergie. Eine Welt ohne #BMW #iX3 und andere #SUVs wäre eine bessere. Aber eine ohne #Atomkraft auch 🙂
PS: #Westfleisch, DEs zweitgrößter Schlachtbetrieb (übrigens #Genossenschaft #SCE), die pro Jahr mehr als 6 Millionen Schweine und hunderttausende Kühe tötet, setzt auch voll auf #ErneuerbareEnergien:
Super, dann brauche ich endlich nicht mehr #vegan essen für's #Klima. Morgen früh gibt's statt #Hafermilch Schweineblut ins #Müsli, wie bei #MarkusSöder.

Cars in #Albania are mostly second (or third) hand cars from, it would seem, #Germany. Brands like #mercedes and #BMW are about the most common ones. Often these are older models of course. You know, the ones no longer considered safe for European roads and lungs. Totally fine to have them poison Albanian lungs. ✌️ ( #colonialism )
But also many newer models. None of which I would classify as "reasonable" cars. I have yet to spot something like a Caddy here for example. -
