The right hand rear corner of my VW van bears a few stickers. One of which I made in remembrance of Hunter S Thompson shortly after his death.
I didn’t charge much so was not surprised when somebody In America bought three.
I was surprised however to see the address was Owl Farm and the stickers were going to Hunter’s son and family. Juan’s wife wrote me a lovely thank you note.

Die Porsche SE meldet wegen milliardenschwerer VW-Abschreibungen erneut hohe Verluste.
Die Porsche SE ist erneut tief in die roten Zahlen gerutscht. Grund dafür ist eine milliardenschwere Abschreibung auf die Beteiligung an Volkswagen. Im ersten Quartal 2026 entstand dadurch ein Verlust von rund 923 Millionen Euro.

Oha nun ist der #fcsp auf Platz 18, wie #werder gegen #heidenheim gespielt hat der Trainer nach dem Spiel gesagt sie sind abgestiegen und und nun sind sie mit #vw und St. Pauli punktgleich . Das wird nächste Woche der absolute Horror im Abstiegskampf. Jeder kann gewinnen und verlieren, ich drücke alle Daumen St. Pauli aber leicht wird das nicht. Ich werde im #weserstadion eher aufs Telefon schauen als auf den Rasen, wie viele andere Bremer auch.

Completed with 0 major hassles - didn't spill any major amount of used oil in yard this time round, and #BGS funnel attachment (72214) is a gamechanger, fits directly in place of oil filler cap rather than having to hold funnel with thin end over opening in one hand and oil container in the other.
Was even able to pour oil in near perfect stream without splashing like my dad used to in 1970s/80s - to be fair he did have a bit more practice, not only did cars need 3 month oil changes back then, he also worked for #Castrol in research labs testing #rheology so was dealing with the stuff every day 😁

I'm not surprised to hear that this is why they invested, when I was shopping, I found plenty of complaints about the VW ID4's software. The original investment came around the same time that they EDV exclusive contract ran out, and Rivian announced that they'd be making custom software for their fleet customers, so I was figuring the software was the reason, I mean you don't usually hear of a company doing custom software (interesting bit of trivia, Kia's solution to the custom software problem on their vans (PV line) was to make their infotainment system run Android so company's can run their own apps on it).

There is only one good self serve wand-type carwash in the Coachella Valley. After giving my car the special attention it deserves, I found today's carspotting subject. It's a first generation VW Rabbit diesel hatchback.
This one's in really nice daily driver condition. I had a gas-powered 1974 Rabbit, bought new very soon after they were introduced, yellow like this one but a lighter shade.
