ummmmm… this is just how coffee has always been roasted before machines. my greatgrandma and nana used to roast coffee in their backyards. nana specifically had a little slab of cement poured in what she gauged as the hottest spot in the garden. she always said science starts in the kitchen.
i get there’s capture and storage tech that makes this innovative. just wanted to point out that old school drying of the fruit and roasting of the #coffee beans has always been #solar #solarpunk.

"This is indirect #solar heating because the #solarenergy charges heat electrothermally into a radial packed-bed energy storage system, which then discharges it into a drum to dry and roast #coffee”
“the latest example of Sandia's ability to use #NewMexico's natural resources in ways that benefit the community and drive business innovation”☀️☕️
#Solar-charged rock bed powers #coffee roaster with heat stored for days https://techxplore.com/news/2026-08-solar-bed-powers-coffee-roaster.html -

Moved the whole container out to the garage, however, fermentation processes produce an ENORMOUS amount of CO2. Very bad for indoor air quality, especially if the windows are gong to be closed later today for A/C (went up into the 90's yesterday here, didn't cool down until after 9pm). #coffee #fermentation

Yeasts activated and it's now fermenting and converting the mucilage and sugars into alcohol (high percentage methanol, so don't drink it!). Not sure what you can do with coffee based alcohol byproduct... nice smelling alcohol stove? This smells very, very sweet with fruity notes. Almost like candy. Will check on it later tonight. #coffee

A Roll of the Dice
The troublesome decisions that can’t be made on the fly.
Daily writing prompt What to do with old posts and lost pictures? View all responsesI have been looking in the rearview {sort of} by going through my old posts and have found to many of them that have lost their images. I’m sure it’s on me that this happened as I have deleted some images in the media gallery and have no clue which ones were in the ‘naked posts’. I have tons of duplicates in the gallery and need to get rid of some but this is where the problem lies.
Do I want to take the time to go through three years of posts and try to add images back in? That would take more than a hot minute to accomplish. Should I just delete the posts? I think I would regret this move so not an option. Do I just leave the blank spaces alone and tackle this in the future?
Decisions Decisions Decisions!
Of course in trying to make this choice I have to add in that this would have to be done when I’m not trying to accomplish the quest I am now on. I feel like my cup is overflowing and my mop is overworked. I guess I’ll pour another cup and ponder as I add another picture to my gallery.
In Other Matters
Boy, did I sleep good last night! A solid thunderstorm rolled and rattled through the sky bringing hard rain, which to me is like hearing a soothing mothers voice as an infant. With the temps hanging in the low seventies, I found this a perfect storm in which to snooze, snore and succumb to the void of unconsciousness.
I woke up refreshed and eagerly awaiting to start the next try of improving my vocals on tape. Good luck Dawg!

All is right in the world again. Well, living room, anyway.
While I was replacing the remaining tuning heads, another one broke off (!) so I'm really glad I didn't just buy one.
I also managed to squeeze the bottle too hard and the top came off and shot fretboard oil everywhere. So that ain't great. But it's a small thing.
I've not had new strings since I got this in '21. You forget the zing.

Had a little productive insomnia last night; now that my body is finally ready to go back to sleep, the alarm is due in 4 minutes

Oye cómo va.
“i hear nothing; too early.”
Enjoy the silence.

Sounds nice.

Container I am using is way too large, but better too big than too small. I am using SafAle S33 for the yeast. This is not what they use in the coffee industry (they will let natural yeasts work on it or specially bred coffee mucilage digesting yeast). It is what I have open from my last brewing batch of beer. #coffee

About 40 min of manually squeezing. The red outside sometimes is dried and turned into "cascara tea". Need to go finish the rest of those before bed, after some stretching. #coffee
