I really should get out more, because most days I just sit in my backyard and photograph whatever local birds decide to drop by. This little tufted titmouse was checking out the opening at the top of an old, weathered feeder I’ve patched up more times than I can count. It leaned forward and peered down into the darkness, clearly weighing whether it could slip through the hole to reach the seed below. After a moment of consideration, it abandoned the plan. This image captures the instant right after that moment of curiosity passed.
