Finished right before working became too painful and I had to take a break - handpoked on a previous guest (one of our faves, we're still in touch).
This photo was taken at about a week healed, but within about a year the tattoo will come into itself as the shading reaches its final point and is more visibly graded and the lines fill in completely. Handpoking is different - space and shading consider the long term holding capacity of the skin and how the ink will settle in. What sometimes looks visibly dotty at first turns solid in the first few months. Machine tattooers consider the same things, but because of the speed the machine places ink the way it lands initially is just different. I like handpoking for this reason (among others) - more space can be left between dots in delicate skin or in sensitive spaces leading to a tattoo that will heal better and look fresh longer than the trauma inflicted on these spaces by even a well-trained machinist.
