Lovely day here in #Petaluma
Fun fact: I used to work for a company which had their office in the Great Petaluma Mill. That was over 11 years ago!

Not *really* feeling it but I'll head out shortly for the Safe Streets Petaluma First Friday bike ride.
I know if I *don't* go I'll feel even more moody (yeah, a little bit of a mood rn), and if I do go there's probably a 98% likelihood I will feel much happier afterward.

Saw these folks (Wilt) at Lagunitas Brewing tonight (free show!), opening for Bully. Great show. They’re an LA band, so not surprisingly they sort of channel Missing Persons on this one.

I miss the monthly First Fridays in Santa Cruz. Speaking of art shows #petaluma #sonomaCounty #newcomer #transplant

And it works! This past Thursday I went to an opening I wasn't really THAT interested in but ended up having a delightful conversation with a local artist (completely separate from the exhibit actually - she just happened to be at Aqus and didn't even know there was an opening happening) #petaluma #sonomaCounty #newcomer #transplant

Very tired but going to try and summon the energy to at least stop in for a bit at some art show openings in town. Part of my efforts to get more grounded in my new home. Something I've been neglecting to do.

Hmm, conundrum... I am signed up for the monthly volunteer training at the local humane society, so that I can start volunteering and get some canine time, but I also found out about a recital at the same time that sounds interesting and also might be a way to get to know better more people in town who have similar vocal/singing interests to me...
My gut is I should reschedule the volunteer training (by 5 weeks): that happens monthly but this recital is a much rarer event, so I should prioritize that.

damn it, I completely spaced that I had signed up for free Tai Chi by the river tonight! Missed it!
Darn it darn it darn it!

Last night went with a few friends to the weekly trivia at a local brewery. Been wanting to go to a trivia night for the past few years.
1. It was hella fun.
2. It was incredibly crowded. But some very nice young 'uns actually tracked us down when they realized they were going to have extra space at their table
3. We did terrible, score-wise.
4. We learned that next time we need to trust our initial answers more and not over-think things.
5. It was hella fun.Everybody agreed we want to do it again. Definitely going back.

Throwback Thursday – June 26, 2025
While in San Francisco in 2018 for the Asian Lunar New Year Parade, I made a side trip up to Petaluma to visit the This Week in Tech (TWiT) studios. After catching that weeks recording of the TWiT podcast, I met the host, Leo Laporte, and sat on the set while talking with him.
