  1. Achievement unlocked: submitted a major infrastructure proposal for Sonoma County.

Instead of expanding #STS one airline route at a time, investigate a satellite terminal linked to Oakland Airport — local check-in and baggage drop, secure ground transfer, then access to OAK’s much larger network. Every new STS destination requires another route; a satellite terminal taps into a network that’s already there.

  6. 3/3

The Sonoma County Museum has an Exhibition that opens today, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Running Fence.

Here is a link to the museum website:

  7. 1/3

Back in 1976, Christo and Jeanne-Claude worked with local communities and volunteers in Sonoma County and Marin County to complete Running Fence (24.5 miles).

It was only installed for two weeks, before it was completely removed and landscape restored.

This year marks the project's 50th anniversary. I was able to update my Running Fence project in QGIS with another set of source maps which represent the final route.

  8. Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County KSTS → Shelter Cove 0Q5

In the end, I had to hurry a bit as the runway in Shelter Cove isn’t lit, and daylight was running out.

  9. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Running Fence, an art installation facilitated by Christo & Jeanne-Claude back in 1976. (I posted a map of the fence on my previous post).

  10. I created this map six years ago. It was one of my first projects using #QGIS at the time. I wanted to georeference the old source maps to the current landscape.

The orange vector line defines the route of the
#Christo and #JeanneClaude Running Fence , which was a project they completed in the summer of 1976, lasting two weeks.

#RunningFence started in Cotati, and wound through the landscapes of #SonomaCounty and #MarinCounty.

2026 marks the 50th year since the project was created.
