  1. A Dozen Pages, Part 2 [ZINE]

In this post I have included three more printable images of "A Dozen Pages" for our zine project. These pages first appeared in A Kick in the Eye, which was a collaborative book I made thirteen years ago with eleven other artists. These pages share a thematic cycle with Intrepid Spirits/The Book of Clea and Enoch and My Favorite Martian Comics. When we get around to posting the twenty-four pages from My Favorite Martian Comics, you will be able to combine all the images into a fairly cohesive book with a robust count of sixty pages. […]

  2. Two Poems 23

Between the drawn riders of the world without colors, and the long borders of the valley of absolute night.

  3. A departure can change our perception of familiar places.
The road remains. The seasons continue. But the absence of one person can make everything feel strangely larger.

  4. An empty chair can say more than a room full of words.
Sometimes absence becomes most visible through ordinary routines: a second cup, a familiar laugh, a place at the table that remains untouched.

  5. The rising tide offers a quiet metaphor for time.
Human traces can disappear from view, yet their existence was real. Impermanence does not make a moment meaningless.

  6. The Prison of Me

I have become who I do not wish to be.
Upon waking this morning I could not find me.
Instead a stranger had taken up residence
beneath machine gun towers on a razor wire fence.

Somehow while I slept a prisoner I became,
captured naked  and exposed, a number for my name.
The cumulative refuse of years like a disease
had suddenly overwhelmed my inner faculties.

The circles I ran in turned around again,
enclosing me in my own hoary skin.
In what putrid lab had this creature taken shape
who now inhabited a body with no escape?

But I must confess that these bars were of my own making.
My subtle declination left me ripe for the taking.
And so in this prison I will forever be
until I learn to love the me that most frightens me.
