An abandoned Soviet culture house, somewhere in the mountains of Georgia.
Once a focal point for workers’ culture and community in a prosperous Soviet-era tea-growing region, it now sat disused and decaying for decades.

🏚️An abandoned house somewhere in rural England, largely untouched since its last occupant mysteriously left and never returned.
The house features a vintage English bedroom. There are numerous clocks and pocket watches, as well as a vintage Jones sewing machine. A mixture of 1940s/1950s, is my best guess.

Abandoned military facilities and relics, echoes of war and conflicts of the past still stand all around us.
Military barracks reclaimed by nature. Grounded warbirds stand at the edges of old runways. Nuclear bunkers and warhead storage sites sit abandoned since the close of the Cold War. Rusted tanks wedged in ditches.
We can learn much from the mistakes of the past. At least, we should do!

Mausoleum K. A striking Neoclassical rotunda, featuring a dome of coffered panels with a central opening (or oculus). Light floods in through this opening, illuminating the above-ground part of the mausoleum.
A wide stone staircase, with an ornate metal railing, following this pathway leads down to the undercroft. The underground area of this mausoleum holds the coffins of the family.

Hotel Atlantis, an abandoned resort in the mountains of Germany established in the 1920s. Once a top vacation spot for winter sports getaways, since its closure in the 1990s it has spent decades as a decaying ruin.

🏥Standish Hospital (Gloucestershire, England) This abandoned hospital had an impressive collection of peeling paint!
Some history. Once a 16th-century country house, Standish Hospital evolved through major medical eras. It treated 2,000 soldiers during WWI and later became a TB sanatorium.
After 1947, it served the NHS as a specialist chest hospital before closing in 2004.
It was demolished a few years ago.

🔥Our history, going up in flames! Fires are destroying so many of our historical Victorian mills. Big Mill in Leek and Middleton Mill in Rochdale are this weekend's casualties.
Dalton Mills in #Keighley is another sad example. I photographed this wonderful historical space a few years ago. After a "mysterious" fires, the mill has collapsed, leaving only the facade.

David Lynchs Werk zieht Betrachterin und Betrachter unwiderstehlich in den Bann. Mit Filmen wie "#Eraserhead", "#ElephantMan" und "#BlueVelvet" erlangte #Lynch schon früh #Kultstatus. Die #Dokumentation zeichnet das Leben des einflussreichen Filmemachers nach und entschlüsselt die versteckten Muster eines Werks, das die Abgründe unter der Oberfläche des "amerikanischen Traums" auslotet.
1990 setzte der amerikanische #Filmemacher David Lynch mit „Twin Peaks“ neue Maßstäbe für das Genre #Fernsehserie und erreichte eine Fangemeinde von 34 Millionen Zuschauern. Im gleichen Jahr wurde der „Meister des Rätselhaften“ für „Wild at Heart – Die Geschichte von Sailor und Lula“ in Cannes mit der Goldenen Palme ausgezeichnet.
Wie wurde #DavidLynch zu einem der einflussreichsten #Regisseure seiner Zeit, der mit seinen surrealen Bildern die #Film- und die #Kunstwelt gleichermaßen prägte? Als Ergründer der menschlichen #Seele startete der Regisseur seine Karriere mit zwei Filmen, die heute unbestrittenen Kultstatus haben: „Eraserhead“ (1977) und „Elephant Man“ (1980). In „Blue Velvet“ (1986) verknüpfte er seine charakteristische Bildästhetik mit nostalgischen #Kindheitserinnerungen und enthüllte die dunkle Seite des amerikanischen Traums. Mit „Twin Peaks – Der Film“ (1992) und „Lost Highway“ (1997) sprengte er erneut die Codes der klassischen Filmerzählung. Mit dem vielfach ausgezeichneten Thriller „Straße der Finsternis – Mulholland Drive“ (2001) demontierte er unter anderem die verlogene Hochglanzfassade Hollywoods.
Lynch macht in seinen Filmen das Publikum zum Detektiv und die Suche nach Sinn zur zentralen Frage des menschlichen Lebens. Mit „Inland Empire“ (2006) und vor allem mit der Rückkehr von „Twin Peaks“ 2017 wuchs Lynch noch einmal über sich selbst hinaus.
Um dem #Rätsel David Lynch auf die Spur zu kommen, sammelt die Dokumentation die Hinweise, die der Regisseur in jeden seiner #Filme eingestreut hat, und befragt seine Lieblingsschauspielerinnen und Lieblingsschauspieler – darunter #LauraDern, #KyleMacLachlan und #IsabellaRossellini.Regie

☠️ The Church of The Baron, Romania
Within years of its completion, both the Baron and his wife were interred here.
Today, only the altar and a few pews remain inside the stripped interior. The impressive domed ceiling is gradually collapsing, and a rickety spiral staircase provides the only access to the twin bell towers.
Random aside: I lost my glasses at this location. I loved those glasses!

Spaceship Ropeway is an abandoned aerial tramway station, perched high on a valley wall above a river. Somewhere in Japan.
Built in the 1960s, it once carried visitors 730 metres across the gorge to a nearby theme park. The park closed around 2000, and the ropeway shut with it.
One rounded gondola remains in the upper station, a one-tonne cabin from the 1980s named Silver, painted green with red trim.
