Getting slightly hotter here, so time for my not too bad, not too slow #coldbrew #coffee.
Put coffee in aeropress over your mug (filter down). Tip in cold water, about enough to actually fill your mug. Stir really well (coffee grindings do not like mixing into the cold water). Put press on and set a timer for ~15 mins; some coffee will drip through but that's fine, in fact that's how you normally make cold brew. When the timer goes or you get impatient, skip the rest of the several hours cold brew normally takes and press the coffee. Done.

Here is the English translation of your coffee caffeine guide, formatted for clarity and social media use.
Caffeine content in coffee beverages depends heavily on the brewing method, bean variety (*Coffea arabica* vs. *Coffea canephora*), roast level, and serving size. Below are estimated values for standard servings.
### **Base Drinks**
* **Espresso (30 ml):** ~60–80 mg
* **Double Espresso (60 ml):** ~120–160 mg
* **Americano (150–240 ml):** ~60–120 mg
* **Filter / Drip Coffee (240 ml):** ~95–180 mg
* **French Press (240 ml):** ~80–135 mg
* **Cold Brew (240 ml):** ~100–200 mg (often higher due to long extraction)
### **Espresso-Based Milk Drinks**
* **Cappuccino (150–180 ml):** ~60–80 mg
* **Latte (240–300 ml):** ~60–80 mg
* **Flat White (160–200 ml):** ~120–160 mg (usually contains a double shot)
* **Macchiato (40–60 ml):** ~60–80 mg
* **Mocha (240–300 ml):** ~70–100 mg (coffee + chocolate adds a bit of extra caffeine)
### **Other Variations**
* **Turkish Coffee (Cezve, 60–100 ml):** ~80–120 mg (sediment leads to higher extraction)
* **Ristretto (20 ml):** ~50–70 mg (smaller volume but highly concentrated)
* **Lungo (50–60 ml):** ~70–100 mg (longer extraction)
* **Decaf (240 ml):** ~2–15 mg (not zero!)
### **What Matters Most**
1. **Bean Variety:** *Coffea canephora* contains roughly 1.5–2 times more caffeine than *Coffea arabica*.
2. **Grind Size & Extraction Time:** Longer brewing → more caffeine.
3. **Coffee-to-Water Ratio:** More ground coffee → higher concentration.
4. **Serving Size:** This is the key factor for total mg intake, even if the drink is diluted.
### **Quick Takeaways**
* **Cold Brew and Filter Coffee** usually have the highest caffeine content per serving.
* **Espresso** has the highest concentration per ml, but the serving size is small.
* **Milk-based drinks** (Lattes, Cappuccinos) aren't "weaker"—they just have more milk, not less caffeine.
> If you need a precise estimate for your specific coffee (beans, dosage, method), let me know the parameters and I’ll run the numbers for you!

It seems almost miraculous how much smoother #ColdBrewCoffee is with a 24-hour brew-time, over the 16 hours I was using last year. It even neutralizes the high acidity of light roasts.
-
-
My new #ColdBrew #Coffee brewer set arrived yesterday, which I picked out specifically to cycle a 24-hour brewing time.
The conical metal filters are much cleaner than the filter-free brewer I used last summer. The set even came with brushes for cleaning the filters.
The result is delicious. Coffee perfection.

Yesterday @Viss mentioned making cold brew coffee by filling up a French press, putting the plunger half-way down, and leaving it in the fridge overnight. So I tried it:
- I think the grounds I used were too fine or something (they just floated on top until I used the plunger)
- it didn't get very strong, not sure if due to grounds or amount of time
- the coffee I used isn't awesome as cold brew -
Very first admin bits done, plus read a Nature paper and ~8 #NewScientist articles so far (3 more queued), and the #coldbrew seems to be doing its thing.
Just about to join a 2h seminar, though may just have it on in background as too much else to get on with!
-
#today there is a little urgent-ish #lifeAdmin to do, at least a little #NewScientist article splurge, and then hopefully the few lines of initial code fixes for my #buildingModel work.
I slept badly, and today is not forecast to be as sunny as yesterday, so some of that may slow me down. I did remember when up at 3am to make a big pot of #coldbrew coffee.
-
Taste your cold brew regularly. Your palate catches problems early. Don't wait for customer complaints.
Before service every day, pull a small pour and taste. Is it as good as yesterday? Any off-flavors? Does it need to be rotated?
Your taste buds are your best quality control tool. Use them.
-
Another week, another chance to pour great coffee.
Monday gets a bad reputation, but it's really just a fresh start. New week, new possibilities, new pours.
Start it right with something smooth and satisfying.
-
A retreat center added cold brew.
Mindfulness + caffeine. Paradox or perfect pair?
Actually, they go together better than you'd think. Cold brew is smooth, low-acid, and easy on the system. It doesn't create the jittery energy of espresso.
Slow pour. Slow sip. Slow morning.
Mindful coffee drinking is a thing.
-
Label your kegs. Brew date, bean origin, ratio. Track what works.
Every batch is data. What beans did you use? What ratio? How long did you steep? How does it taste?
Write it down. Compare batches. When you nail that perfect cold brew, you'll want to know exactly how you did it.
A simple label system saves you from reinventing the wheel every time.
-
New week energy. Nitro cold brew delivers.
After a big game day weekend, Monday needs some extra fuel. That smooth nitro pour hits different when you're recovering from a late night.
Clean caffeine, no jitters, ready to take on the week.
-
Milk infused cold brew? Do it in the keg.
Add oat milk, mix gently, serve.
Creamy cold brew on tap.
-
A yoga studio added cold brew.
Post-class caffeine without the jitters. Nitro is smooth and easy.
Cold brew is naturally lower in acidity than hot-brewed coffee, which makes it gentler on the stomach - perfect after an intense flow. The nitrogen adds creaminess without any dairy.
Wellness-minded customers love having a quality option that fits their lifestyle.
-
Rotate your cold brew stock. First in, first out. Fresh tastes best.
Even properly kegged cold brew doesn't last forever. The flavor peaks around day 3-5 and slowly declines after that.
Label your kegs with brew dates. Use the oldest first. Make smaller batches more often rather than one huge batch.
Freshness is flavor.
-
Start strong. Pour smooth. Nitro cold brew is the way.
Monday mornings deserve better than instant coffee or a rushed drive-through order. Walk up to your tap, pull a perfect pour, watch that cascade settle.
That's how you start a week right.
-
A gym just installed cold brew for their members.
Pre-workout that's actually good for you.
No sugar, no jitters, just smooth caffeine.
-
Store cold brew in the dark. Light degrades flavor.
UV and visible light break down compounds in coffee that contribute to aroma and taste. This is why good roasters use opaque bags, and why clear containers are the enemy of fresh coffee.
Kegs are perfect - no light gets in. Ever. Your cold brew stays as fresh as the day you kegged it.
Darkness is your friend.
-
Mondays are better with nitro on tap.
There's something about starting the week with a perfectly poured nitro cold brew. Watching that cascade settle, taking that first smooth sip - it's a small ritual that makes Monday mornings feel a little less Monday.
Treat yourself. You've earned it.
-
Water quality matters for cold brew.
Filtered water = cleaner taste. Your coffee is 99% water - if your tap water has chlorine, minerals, or off-flavors, they'll show up in your cold brew.
A simple carbon filter makes a noticeable difference. Some coffee shops use reverse osmosis and add minerals back for the perfect profile.
Start with good water. Everything else follows.
-
Start the week with coffee on tap.
There's something special about pulling a fresh nitro cold brew first thing Monday morning. That smooth, creamy cascade settling in your glass - it sets the tone for the whole week.
No more waiting in coffee shop lines. No more mediocre office pot coffee. Just walk up and pour.
-
Cold brew
Simple recipe, which is good because it's only day 2 of this year and it looks like I'll need a lot of this to get through it.For the record:
- 1 litre of water
- 1 cup of coarse-ground coffee
- 1 day of brewing on the countertop. -

So, what’s everyone drinking this morning? I bought a fresh bag of beans yesterday, and used them with my V60 this morning. Not the best beans, but at least I now contain caffeine!
We’ve also been experimenting with Cold Brew infusions using a Hario infuser bottle. So far, the best infusion we’ve found is Wittards Very berry. It’s so yummy!

1st cold brew of the season!

It’s not the heat it’s the humidity.
Today’s #Rotherham #parkrun more difficult than most.
Perfect excuse to make some #coldbrew #coffee when I get to work.

Iced Tea & Cold Brew Coffee
Click here for more articles & daily dose.
What is your favorite drink?
As the title entails, it is Iced Tea and Cold Coffee.
1. Iced Tea
Photo by Barbara Webb on Pexels.comI fell in love with tea, green tea, black tea and oolong tea in particular when I was 14 years old.
At that time, I was looking into drinks to aid my weight loss and I came across green tea and oolong tea being suitable drinks in facilitating weight loss when consumed without sugar.
Thus, I brewed my first proper sugarless green tea and fell in love with the taste. Ever since then, I started drinking it on a regular basis and it has pretty much replaced water for me.
Did it aid with weight loss?
Perhaps in the beginning, eventually, I continued drinking it because I enjoyed the taste be it warm or cold.
As I started working, I would usually prepare cold brew green tea in order for me to bring to work the following day.
Photo by Charlotte May on Pexels.comWhy cold?
The environment that I’m working in can get rather warm and considering I am a person who perspires easily, the temperature of the tea eases me and provides immediate rejuvenation.
Even after a long day at work, nothing refreshes me more than a cold brew green tea served in mason jar and a straw.
2. Cold Coffee
Photo by Marta Dzedyshko on Pexels.comI am a HUGE fan of coffee, black sugarless coffee in particular.
My love for coffee began since I was in primary school, which I think is a bad thing since children are not supposed to consume coffee.
Back then, my mother would used to prepare coffee for my father and milo for me prior to my father sending me off to school and heading to work.
Me and my father would then switch drinks after he has drank half of his drink.
Then, when I turned 14 years old, I started pulling an all nighter or getting up at midnight just to study.
Eventually, I developed immunity towards coffee and is able to fall asleep even after consuming it. Thus, I merely consume it out of addiction and routine.
As I started working, as mentioned in my explanation for cold tea, the environment is rather warm for me to be consuming hot coffee. Hence, I would prepare my mason jars of coffee the night prior and transfer it into my flask the following day.
