  1. More expensive, premium PHEVs are plugged in less often and/or for shorter durations compared to more mainstream models.

The marketing of PHEVs seem like they are the best overall, but not so much for fuel consumption and emissions in the real world. Shocking.

  2. The world is quickly moving towards #electric. Let's not get stuck behind with the Americans. 🇩🇪 Germany has announced a new incentive program for #EVs, #PHEVs, and #EREVs that includes imports from Chinese manufacturers. #germany #ev cleantechnica.com/2026/01/19/g...

  3. Living in Virginia and being a low-mileage driver, owning an #EV means I pay a penalty for that EV. Virginia is one of many states that charges a annual fees on #BEVs, #PHEVs and #HEVs. This fee is notionally designed to make up for the tax not being collected on gasoline sales. In Virginia, the fees are fixed, based solely on vehicle type. A fixed-fee means that if you drive fewer miles then than the assessment basis, you're effectively subsidizing others who drive greater miles than the fee's basis.

    With an
#ICE vehicle, one pays based only on what one actually uses.

Across our two vehicles, we typically drive less than 9,000mi/yr (which was why, when setting up the lease for our EV, we selected the 7500mi/year lease option ...and are likely to actually underburn it by +1,000mi/yr). I'm going to guess that we're
several thousand miles under the fee's basis

  4. In Q1 2025, China’s #NEV sales soared—BEVs led, up 46% YoY vs #PHEVs at 22%. Geely posted 167% NEV growth in March (70.5% overall), securing the #2 spot after BYD in market share and #1 in growth. Tesla slid to 8th. BEVs now make up 65% of NEV sales. The ICE age is melting fast. #EV #BEV #Geely #BYD

  5. BEV demand is still weak. It is still the result of massive subsidies, not organic demand. We are being gaslit into thinking people really want them, when in reality it is hybrids and PHEVs.

  6. Hey here's an idea let's push #PHEVs which people seem to be far more receptive to and have huge efficiency and exhaust wins over pure gasoline cars instead of trying to do a straight-to-EV moonshot whose critical infrastructure relies on a highly distractable and fash-curious billionaire.

  7. This is absolutely not true. Please do not buy #PHEVs - you’re locking in fossil fuel consumption and it will be worse for you and everyone else. Both from a financial perspective and a climate perspective.

  8. 3 months on with a plugin hybrid minivan. We can do 95% of our driving with just 33 mile range battery. Apart from one long trip we haven't needed to buy gas at all, and that has been a really good feeling
