  1. Microsoft Teams - I can’t believe it… Now, after an year or whatever (long time). Microsoft guys were able to get the scheduled messages being shown correctly on mobile (Android). I’m surprised that they got that kind of elite engineers and geniuses in house. - Oh well, maybe they don’t. It was probably AI that fixed it. #microsoft #teams #apps #messaging #bugs #fix #UX

  2. Yep, it’s been half an hour and no dropouts… I’m calling it, my lovely new BBC Micro B is fixed :)

Yay! Soooo excited to play with it tomorrow 🥳

    Here’s a before video:

    And an after:

And the issue, for anyone else who stumbles on this thread, was the 16MHz oscillator circuit (marked X1 on the main board).

Also, I could only find a lot of 50 of them, so if anyone needs one, just hit me up and I’ll send it to you :)

Huge thanks to the folks on the stardot.org.uk for sharing the fix: stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopi

  4. Just made a little correction to the JavaScript Database (JSDB) Table Events section:

Previously, the example that listens for the JSTable.PERSIST event was erroneously stating that the table was deleted when the `type` property in the event handlers parameter object was JSTable.DELETE. It now correctly states that the value at `keypath` was deleted.

I also documented the JSTable.PERSIST types so they wouldn’t be confused with the JSTable event types (persist and delete; the latter of which does actually signal that the table – i.e., the append-only JavaScript log – was deleted.

  9. Fixing our own problems in the Rust compiler

In our data compression projects, we use Rust where C is traditionally used. During the work, we've hit limitations in Rust itself and in the surrounding tooling. Over the years, we've become increasingly comfortable with fixing these issues ourselves. […]

  11. Just returning from #volunteering at our local Repair Cafe. For $REASONS, they didn't have one in January or February, so I was kind of missing it.

Good turnout, though there weren't many who booked a slot in advance - just a lot of walk-ins. Everyone got seen. I worked on the usual small appliances, had a peek at a sewing machine, and oddly enough, a shoe/boot. Now I'm a cobbler, apparently?

Helping people feels good. Saving stuff from the landfill feels good. Saving money for people who can't really afford repairs and definitely can't just buy a new $SOMETHING feels good. If you enjoy fixing things - from sewing/garment repair to bicycles to computers to anything else - maybe look for a Repair Cafe in your city. I'm sure they'd love your help.

But I haven't been in the middle of that much people noise in months - maybe years. Decompressing...

  22. Live in #Regina? Have something that's #broken and you'd like it fixed? How about getting it fixed for #free?

Regina has a Repair Cafe! It started a year or so ago. I started volunteering when I found out about it. The volunteers are all great people, and between them they seem to fix a lot of stuff - everything from garment #repair to bicycles to power tools to electronics, and more.

I'm not an official spokesman or anything - I just volunteer. But if you're in the #YQR area, you can get the date and location of the next repair cafe from this webpage:

    envirocollective.ca/repair-caf

There's also a link from there to where you can sign up for a repair spot. Walk-ins are taken as possible, but reserved timeslots are served first.

As I write this, the next one is on Saturday 21 March at the Circle Project, 3433 5th Ave. I haven't actually looked where that is yet, must do that.

Anyway - come get stuff fixed for free, by friendly folk in a relaxed atmosphere. And save one more thing from ending up in the #landfill.
