  1. A fun new bug for the Beeline Moto II... The app is having trouble loading any saved routes. The company responded that it's a known bug - and affects those who use the app the most. Apparently the way they store this data is so inefficient that it has trouble loading your data when the app is launched. They say it's a project they are working on the rest of the year. You can either create a new account or go through manually and delete historical routes one-by-one...

  2. Changed the Ibex to a 15t sprocket today! I've only ridden a little bit but it really does feel like a different bike... Much calmer. I'm used to flipping into 2nd gear almost immediately and now I don't have to. Going 50-55 in 3rd gear blew my mind. On the highway it was wayyy less buzzy when I was 70-75.

  3. Motorcyclists cross the bridge in downtown Newark Valley, NY a cute town about which I visited last Saturday about 16 miles away; I haven't made up my mind where I'm going this weekend yet...

  4. The 1988 Honda CBR600F Hurricane. This was the second one of these I had bought. It was 20 years old then. Needed a fuel pump and the carbs cleaned to get it running, then I repaired and repainted all the broken plastic. It ran a lot better than the first one. A little small for me but it's not like you're riding one of these for days. Had it a year, maybe two.

  5. I used to have an account on another server but they appear to have broken down or closed so I'm starting over. People here should know that I ride an electric motorcycle, a 2020 Zero SR, which I commute on and have fun trying to see how much I can carry on it. I'm in the club Women on Wheels, whose only Mastodon presence so far is what's been posted by me. #newhere #motorcycles #aerostich #WomenOnWheels #ZeroMotorcycles #electricvehicles

  6. First impressions on the Honda CRF300 Rally:

    * Suspension is great on the road. Roads that make the Grom chatter like crazy feel like nothing in the CRF. Potholes just feel like a minor bump. Riding up curbs is easy.
    * It's top-heavy for 150 kg. Need to be careful moving it around.
    * Feels very stable at low speeds, perhaps due to the large tyres and heavier weight.

Overall, very happy so far. Looking forward to doing a small trip soon.

  7. First impressions on the Honda CRF300 Rally:

    * Sure vibrates a lot more than the Grom. I'll add some Grip Puppies.
    * Seat height isn't as much of a challenge as I expected. I wouldn't want to start out on this bike, but it's very approachable after 1 yr of riding experience.
    * Power is amazing compared to the Grom. No trouble doing 100 km/hr, even uphill.
    * Gets blown around a lot more than the Grom did at 80+ km/hr.

  8. Just got the Honda Grom back from its 6,400 km (4,000 mi) service. Maybe I'm just imagining it, but it feels like new again now.

It'd probably benefit from being serviced more frequently - it's only got 9 HP, so you have to ride it pretty hard to actually get anywhere. I'll try changing the oil at the next 3,200 km instead of waiting another 6,400.

Hard to believe I've had this bike for 13 months now. It's a 10/10 bike, but I'll really need to upgrade soon.

  9. On second thought, maybe I won't buy the service manual for my Honda Grom. 😬

Apparently this is how much it costs to ship a 170 page paperback from the official publisher in the USA to Australia. Prices are in USD.

  10. Tried taking the Honda Grom down some corrugated roads today. The sport tyres weren't a problem, but the suspension *really* doesn't like it. 😂

  11. Took the Honda Grom to the servo to pump up the tires. I think the tire pump must've been broken, because I couldn't get it to work. All I achieved was deflating my front tire to 70%.

I told the clerk, then decided to just ride home since I live nearby. It's amazing how much of a difference an under-inflated tire makes for handling. The Grom is usually as nimble as a bicycle, but it was noticeably a *lot* harder to tip into corners.

    Do not recommend.

  12. I installed some cheap mirror extenders on my Honda Grom, and it makes a world of difference. Now I can see behind myself without having to tuck my shoulders in!

Only issue is it seems to make the mirrors vibrate a little more. I don't mind, but I think they're going to need some locktight to keep them from rattling loose.

  13. It's been too long since I wrote a blog post, so here's the first for 2023: my brief thoughts on the Honda Grom after six months of ownership.

    (tl;dr this bike is awesome 🏍️ )
